But it really doesn't matter anymore as MW2 has become virtually unplayable for me, as I no matter what I try I can no longer stay connected to any game host, and if the problem doesn't miraculously just fix itself, the game will find itself being shipped to amazon for 26 bucks.

That is prob your router. Do a factory reset on it and then DMZ your PS3.

Did that already at least 5 times, even went direct to the modem, to see if the router was faulty no luck. Called ISP about disruptions nothing .. It is the strangest thing ever, I can test the connection and it be perfect with good to great d/l to u/l speeds but still cant hold a connection during a game. It is the most frustrating thing ever, and I know it is something with the game itself as I don't have this problem with any other game.

Like I said I have tried everything. Did the whole reset modem / router , DMZ, open ports, enable/ disable Upnp, change Nat rules. Switch static ip addresses on ps3, placed a fan directly on all devices ps3, modem, router, in case of overheating. Scoured the net for people with similar problems and found maybe 1 to 2 post regarding the same exact problem and a solution was never found. Only about a week after one of them had the problem it just started to work one day.

I hoping the same happens otherwise like I said I ll ship it to amazon for 26 bucks cause I cant bear to keep it in the house and it not work.

A couple things to try…

Swap out your cables. It’s doubtful this is the problem but you might as well eliminate it from the list.

Did you run your speed tests from the PS3 itself? There can be a big difference between PS3 speeds and your computer’s speed. I ran into this once when I had the wrong IP addy in my DMZ.

Run a ping test on your computer. Hit start then bring up a CMD window. Type: ping www.google.com –t

This will run a constant ping and you can watch for sporadic responses and time outs. If you get them, then you know your ISP or cable modem is bombing out.

ps3 itself. When you go and set up the network stuff. Switch the cables before as well tried 3 different Ethernet cables.

But hadn't done so in the command prompt.. went ahead and ran one upon your suggestion. Everything seemed fine. Pretty much consistently had responses of 15-18 ms with every 6 to 10 pings jumping to low to mid 20s. No time outs or lost packets.

I know you went through this, but it seems like little more than a port forwarding problem. You say it works beautifully with other games and I will assume you have tried it directly connected to the modem - this ruling out an ISP issue - so I have no idea what is left.

Some of those are for the game itself; another one is for the mic. If this done, then I am with you and have no idea.

Another suggestion, just for giggles, rent or borrow the game from somebody. You might as well eliminate a disk error as a problem. I have no idea how it could be a disk problem because that usually results in freezing but it’s worth a shot.
