Im finally off my socom high horse and will admit that at least imo, COD4 > socom
Even after playing COD in the limited time i did, i now find socom "clunky".
perfect would be cod with socom maps and push to talk ( i dont wanna have to mute anyone..just limit their speak time)
I also stil like the dead room and like i said..guys who came in str8 from cod will have a hard time with it.
anyway, im kinda looking forward to cod5 but will enjoy socom for a few months

I look forward to...shit...I guess RFOM 2? I must admit, SOCOM is not the same...I blame the loss of the guys who made it was back in the day (Spidey, Carnell, Rucker)

i am really shocked by Hoos's comments about third person to first person.
There is a whole different out take as in strategies between socom and the other shooter games like cod4 and rfom, you have to communicate. That is why you hear me say all the time on the mic, "call out when you see someone before you engage, or I am going left" To be successful in socom is not about getting the most kills but winning as a TEAM

I think having COD 5 with a true capture the flag game will involve so great teamwork. looking forward to next month.

Interesting opinion guys...but I almost completely agree ajalves on this one...the shooter genre has moved way beyond what socom brings to the table. Only area we differ is if I want to play with respawns I just go to a respawn game..so that doesn't bother me very much. Its just the lil things (that COD4 got right) that really bother me. I can see a person...my gun is literally hanging over the railing..but I have a circle with a line through it saying I can't shoot. When lying prone why can I only move 1 meter an hour? When I have my scope up why do I have to walk in super-slow motion? This game is just a mid-generation ps2 game with great textures....while the animation, gameplay, and presentation hasn't advanced at all.
With that said...I loved Socom 2...so I do enjoy this game...but rereleasing the same game with better graphics isn't a recipe to keep my attention very long. But hell atleast I got a cool ass bluetooth headset out of the deal.

Thats all I keep telling myself.
Ill probably trade this in soon back to Blockbuster and put the cash on COD5.

far cry online is actually pretty good. only problem is that you can tell its more of an "addition" than the focal point. no party system sucks, but, like i thought, it is very cod4-ish.

So seems like an overwhelming vote of confidence towards COD5 right?

The game is nothing special.......thank goodness I just rented it. The new COD will be great. When you cannot shoot (yellow aim), it really pisses me off as I have a free shot with the sniper with nothing obstructing the view, but the game will not let me shoot.........very frustrating.
