its not about playing against the "athletic" schools. its about him being able to up HIS talent. better qbs, better lineman, better running backs, and the biggest... better defendersVeniVediV1ci wrote:well-played moron.nick wrote:Corey 1BIGmike wrote:How can you say that? VVV fag
As for Mike, the athletes/speed in the SEC are 100x better than the Big XII, so it wouldn't work.
Look at Leach's record against athletic schools, not good

Re: Imagine Mike Leach at your school
what about when as mentioned Leach was OC at Kentucky
they put up big numbers but just didnt have the defense
im saying imagine leach at like an fsu/miami or any sec team other than vandy or kentucky with a half decent defense

There are plenty of SEC D's sucking balls right now.

Um......yeah, his offense would NEVER work in the SEC.
I mean, this guy only threw for 8,000 yds and 75 touchdowns in two seasons under Leach while playing in the SEC. He only went about 800/1150 in two seasons. His system would NEVER work in the SEC!

Sorry, VVV, that caught me by surprise.
Re: Imagine Mike Leach at your school
A system can work in any conference if you have the right athletes that you need and you have confidence in running it right. Leaches passing game will work anywhere he has more than proven that. I root for USC and any team is coached by Mike Leach.

Mike Leach has never been able to beat good (athletic) teams consistently so if you want to be a national power, he's not the guy. If you want to resurrect a program, then he's a great choice like i said earlier

We've also never seen him at a school where he has talent on par with national powers.
Sure he's had players here and there, but never an entire offense remotely as good to really compete with national powers.

Was Texas Tech worth a shit before he got there? Not that I ever recall. He had them ranked #1 at one point I believe.
Tell you what I would never ever draft one of his QB's.

lol....if he was in the SEC wouldnt he actually HAVE sec "athletic" teams as well? He couldnt beat those programs before because he didnt have that level of talent. If he was in the SEC, stands to reason he could recruit SEC talent

Re: Imagine Mike Leach at your school
Leach could win as a HC in any conference, but he'd need the right Defensive coordinator to run that side of the ball...a guy that can recruit. It's pretty obvious most teams with head coach's that favor a specific side of the ball (NU an easy example for me), they need the right guy on the other side to run the offense/defense.
Leach's offense can put up 40 points in any conference, his teams are the only teams that I literally hated to see NU play (that and Mizzou when they Chase Daniels for some reason).

Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeexactly.
When he was at Kentucky, he ran an offense that had plenty of athleticism and a terrific QB (NFL bust or not, Couch was a terrific college QB, and is considered one of the top ten HS athletes ever), he had dynamic talent at WR in Craig Yeast (whose name is all over the SEC record books) and had a solid HB in Anthony White, probably better than any HB he had at Texas Tech. Now, he had no control over the defense, and he also had no control over Hal Mumme's desire to make calls that made Les Miles look like a genius (like going for 4th downs well in UK territory), thus we lost to better teams but we also beat some. Leach would do quite well in the SEC, as long as he got a solid QB with good accuracy.

Re: Imagine Mike Leach at your school
i don't agree that he could get the athleticism that the other schools get.
he could probably build a QB that flops in the pros like always, but he's not going to get quality TEs or RBs, which you need to win games in the SEC if you don't have a dominant running QB.
He has never given a flying fuck about defense, and that's what the conference is about currently.
He could outscore people in the Big XII because they have some shit schools there, but he couldn't do that in the SEC

.....HE'S ALREADY DONE IT! Dear God, how fucking hardheaded ARE you?!?!
He hires a decent DC, and the fact that he's in the SEC will allow him to recruit solid defensive players at 9 of the 12 member schools, easy. He's already PROVEN that his offensive system can put up numbers on SEC defenses! And that was back when offenses weren't as prolific as they are NOW. Players 12 years ago weren't as fast on offense, the rules weren't as favorable then, etc. Tim Couch could probably put up 5000 yds passing now, hell Andre Woodson put up over 3500 in 2006 and 2007 in a PRO STYLE offense; he would've destroyed those numbers in a pass-happy offense!
Oh and in case you didn't realize it, Tim Couch was NOT a running QB! As for getting quality TEs/RBs, he'll get them easier than he does in BFE, Texas. Kids want to play in the SEC!

Re: Imagine Mike Leach at your school
UK's shit football team doesn't mean anything to me, nor does his two years there in the past.
SEC football is in its prime right now, unlike back then, and I don't think you guys realize the person that Mike Leach is.
He's a great coach where expectations are low, but i'm not convinced he can be a prolific head coach in the SEC where football is king.
All of you are acting like you know without a doubt he'd be the G.O.A.T. so look in the mirror when you're calling me hard-headed.
Seriously you guys are hilarious
