I agree with Joe, its expensive as shit and Im not an NFL fan.

BUT its free this season on NFL Sunday Ticket and Im back in a fantasy league for some bigger cash so the fantasy stat thing, the ability to watch Red Zone, and actually see a Bronco game (not sure I really wanna see it) for the first time in HD on my TV is big for me.

Next year when it comes time to pay for it...yea, that decision will be tougher.

I thought the DirecTV deal where it was free for new subscribers this year automatically included that it would be full price next year and that it was part of the contract that you couldn't cancel it next year?

You still get two years for the price of one, but I didn't think you could cancel Sunday Ticket next year. Thought it was automatic renewal?

Its automatic renewal if you dont call and cancel it.

I triple checked and will be asking DirecTV to be pulling recordings from Janny in Columbus during our chat. She said you just cancel it before the start of next season and you are good to go if you dont want it.

Ill be pisssssssssssssssssssssed if thats not true.

as for PS3, I had MLB.tv from MLB.com and used it on my PS3 and it was HD quality and great, so as long as you have a good connection it's fine

tball275 wrote:I have the MLB.tv package, which allows me to watch on PS3, among other things. The quality is perfectly fine. I get HD feeds from both home and away affiliates. So, I'm assuming the NFL would do the same, especially with all games being run through a national affiliate (HD will be available).

I wonder if blackout restrictions (like MLB's) will be in effect for the NFL package.
when directv didnt charge extra for internet access, my buddy would log onto my account from his house and watch the blacked out raider home games on his laptop.

All you need is redzone. It covers all the bases.

anyone ever use a service like this thru PS3?
DirecTv will also offer Sunday Ticket on alternative distribution platforms via Motorola's Xoom and Samsung Galaxy tablets; Motorola's Android phones; the iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch; BlackBerry devices with 3G or Wi-Fi; Palm Pre/Pixi; and other Droid-branded phones.
so if i buy it i'll be able to watch on my ps3 but also on my droid? fan-fucking-tastic

I use MLB.tv n its full 1080 HD, I cant imagine that this would be any different. But $340 for it is kinda pricey.

I can walk to a bar around the corner and watch the Giants game, which is the only game I'd want to watch anyway, have two beers and some food for about $20 total, and walk home.

But yes, this really isn't geared towards me as I don't sit around watching other games until it comes to the playoffs. If I could pay $50 just to get the Giants games (half of which end up on TV anyway in LA because there is no local NFC team), I probably would.

If I were in your shoes and I spent that much at the bar, this is a no brainer.
Even if you only spend $20 a week at the bar watching games times 16 weeks = $320. So it is almost the price of the NFL Sunday Ticket.
With the ticket, you get to sit on your favorite comfy seat, in your boxers drinking cheap beer if you choose to.

I understand it is more expensive than MLB or the other ones, but NFL is the most popular out of the sports.

And it is just like the MLB package that you can get through DirecTV now.

Good to know that it is in HD quality.

Nothing new but maybe a little clearer.
_____________

NFL Ticket, a feature previously touted specifically to DirecTV customers, is heading over to the PS3.

The service allows users to watch every Sunday NFL title, with the ability to follow up to eight games simultaneously.

In additon, viewers can get exclusive commentary and watch plays in ways that aren't available on most standard football broadcasts.

The Sunday Ticket package is actually partially owned by DirecTV, so it was involved in the process of bringing the content to the PS3.

Best of all, unlike other cable/satellite services that have branched out to other devices and require users to have a specific cable or satellite account, this feature is available to every PS3 owner - no DirecTV subscription required.

You do, however, have to subscribe to Sunday Ticket, which costs a whopping $339.95 for the entire season.

Those who do have an existing DirecTV Sunday Ticket subscription still need to dole out an extra $50 to access it on the PS3.

It sounds like a lot, but then again there are some real die-hard football fans out there.

This is the latest move from Sony to bring non-gaming content to the PS3 and deliver on its promise of being more than just a game console but rather an all-encompassing media device.

Other services available on PS3 include Netflix, Vudu, and MLB live streaming. Meanwhile, the Xbox 360 promises to bring live TV services to its platform later this year. In the future, perhaps the cable box as we know it will be a thing of the past.

I was going to do the NFL to go for $50 total and just hook my laptop to my HD TV through HDMI to watch the games.
I read that the NFL to go is Sunday ticket and the redzone channel all in one.

And for anyone that wants to use their PS3 to access movies and shows stored on a computer hard drive somewhere else in your home, check out the software called PS3 Media Server.
It is free and streams just about anything I have tried to my PS3 and looks damn good.

I stream 20 GB HD MKV BluRay rips with no issues. So I really do recommend it for a media streamer using this software. I did have issues when I was using the PS3 wirelessly though. So be aware that in order to play MKV files I had to hard wire my PS3.

I've changed my viewpoint to simply that it isn't targetting people that only want to watch one team.

I only watch the Giants. They play on Monday/Sunday 4 times and Saturday once (I think that game will be on nationally). That leaves 11 games that may not be on, but they play 5 games in the late afternoon time slot when there are usually only 3-4 games going on, so there is a good chance I'll get at least 3 of those, leaving 8 games. And then they'll be on at least 2-3 times in the early slot because they're usually in the playoff hunt at the end of the year or playing high profile games that get picked for the nationally televised early game.

Really I think there were 3 games last year that they weren't on TV for me that I went to the bar to watch.

Still, I think the product is over-priced, but they make a killing on it so no reason to change the price from their viewpoint.

Also, just realized that there are NO New Years Day bowl games this year because the last Sunday of the NFL season is Jan 1. Weird.

You have to find the right feeds, and when you start getting familiar with some of the sites on there that post links, it becomes easier.

You want to avoid veetle and sopcast broadcasts, they don't work with PS3. As the preseason gets further along I'll look for solid feeds and post them.
