Re: Expansion Solution
I am as well in essence of keeping the league going, making it stronger with adding new live teams, and ease for Trendon to do his job so he isnt so sensitive...BUT I think its very unrealistic and gives them a major advantage come free agent time depending on how much cash they get from their owners.ajalves wrote:im ok either way to be honest
Good either way though.

Re: Expansion Solution
Meh... 80% of free agents are our old trash that's wayyy too expensive. Let those guys have at it instead of them being free agents 2 months into the season..Cnasty wrote:I am as well in essence of keeping the league going, making it stronger with adding new live teams, and ease for Trendon to do his job so he isnt so sensitive...BUT I think its very unrealistic and gives them a major advantage come free agent time depending on how much cash they get from their owners.ajalves wrote:im ok either way to be honest

Re: Expansion Solution
They would be at a bigger advantage if they only chose minor league contract in the expansion draft and had their entire budget to spend vs. having to take on contracts already on the team.Cnasty wrote:I am as well in essence of keeping the league going, making it stronger with adding new live teams, and ease for Trendon to do his job so he isnt so sensitive...BUT I think its very unrealistic and gives them a major advantage come free agent time depending on how much cash they get from their owners.ajalves wrote:im ok either way to be honest

Re: Expansion Solution
But at least thats realistic and there teams would suck starting out but develop young talent from within (Tampa Bay) or try to get huge contracts and free agents and win now (Florida Marlins)brwnbear wrote:They would be at a bigger advantage if they only chose minor league contract in the expansion draft.
Just showing both sides to what is happening.

Re: Expansion Solution
1- If it's easier for Trendon and the majority wants it this way, I am ok with it.
2- If I was a new guy, I personally would want to build my own team through expansion draft rather than be handed a team already made up.
3- It's not fair, IMO, to the past expansion teams, that built their teams from scratch and had to endure rough seasons.
4- Like Corey and Shel alluded to, I like the strategy of leaving a high contract/somebody you want to get rid of, out there as bait. And it's the realistic way of expansion. This is more of a merger.
5- Some people were complaining about the amount of stars in the league, although I think the numbers aren't that far out of whack. (Injuries yes!) But this solution does nothing to dillute the player pool among more teams, it just brings in more players,
Just some of my thoughts.

Exactlly what i want to do, U build a team of young talent n maybe a couple bigger names to help u along, But i personally dont just want to be handed a team, But i really dont have alot of say in it.

Re: Expansion Solution
Sure it does. The free agency pool will be decimated, teams will have to be picky, and the waiver wires will get plundered again instead of being able to pass pretty much anyone you want through.Bernie32 wrote: 5- Some people were complaining about the amount of stars in the league, although I think the numbers aren't that far out of whack. Realistic if u ask me, Not like in real life do teams just throw away mid talent on waivers for no reason, unless i guess ur the yanks who can afford it

Re: Expansion Solution
You are bringing in 220 new players. Some of those players will become free agents too or hit the waiver wire, making up for any FA's lost to the new 4 teams. In time yes, once these guys all retire. But expansion plus keeping USBL in tact is more of a dilution.Seeitsaveit13 wrote:Sure it does. Re: Expansion Solution
the only argument to this is, Wash/Seattle were once USBL teams I believe and were moved over to make the NDL league bigger. Not 100% sure on this though but I'm pretty sure thats what happened cause I remember Philly/Chi going through my players and taking them, but I dont remember losing any to Wash/Seattle when we expanded

Where are these players comming from?Bernie32 wrote: You are bringing in 220 new players.

Re: Expansion Solution
I wasn't around for those seasons, so I don't know about that. But Trendon did say "Why haven't I thought of this before?", so that led me to believe no.nick wrote:the only argument to this is, Wash/Seattle were once USBL teams I believe and were moved over to make the NDL league bigger. Re: Expansion Solution
the USBL? The same league that had Ando in it before Trendon got him, whos now killing the NDLB.. ya, that league with just as much exceptional talent as ours.brwnbear wrote:Where are these players comming from?Bernie32 wrote: You are bringing in 220 new players.

Re: Expansion Solution
4 USBL teams, 40 man rosters plus Trendon said they have 15 protected or something. 4 times 55 equals 220.brwnbear wrote:Where are these players comming from?Bernie32 wrote: You are bringing in 220 new players.

Re: Expansion Solution
No. You are bringing in 120 players. Read what Trendon wrote. They have 40 man teams and that's it. The rest they'll sign, get through waivers, trade for etc.Bernie32 wrote:You are bringing in 220 new players.
