user tackling/defending the pass is a joke so far (only played a handful of games)

No. You're right. It's horrible. Impossible.

I actually am finding myself liking the game far more than disliking it...Alot of complaints in past years bout being able to exploit the AI flaws by "user controlling" certain positions, I think they made it a lot tougher. I like how you are forced to play the game differently, and use the strengths of your team, as opposed to the strength of a coach.

Definitely this. I'm curious as to when players ARE able to respond defensively. There are some instances where they shouldn't because they can't see and they don't...others they do. On the flip side, they can clearly see the ball and don't respond. Once we figure out what makes us able, I think the user skills on defense will see a significant boost.

Or that could be adjusted in the patch. But yea, not being able to cover everything changes things up a bit.

Anything that helps a guy who user controls a safety and plays out of context the entire game..i am for...I know SOME don't do this, but there is nothing more frustrating then when a 95 speed saftey just runs around and seems to cover everyone and any run play, booooorrrring haha.

omg not being able to raise your hands to intercept a pass is just straight boo boo.. there is nothing good about not being able to user control a guy. And this game is not more about coaching .. otherwise zone defense would work.

This game has gone backwards.. until they remedy the zone defense and user feedback.

See I guess its how we all see the game. Im finding this game enjoyable. I find if I mix up my defense's they work same offensively. Now I dont have too much problem with the zone defense, but I find if I call too much zone then my opponent adjusts to that. Vice versa with man coverage. If Im using that too much my opponent starts calling plays that are better suited for that defense. Either way, Im liking the game. Nole kick my arse in our cup game, he played great threw some passes I thought I would intercept and didnt. But nontheless, thats just how it goes.

I agree totally here, The is no defense played at all. I cant seem to get any kind of zone to work. And it seems in man to man that the players just mirror the recivers routes, and get beat 90% of the time. I have also noticed that again that penalties are non exsistant and this is so not real, Not saying we need a ton, but when a guy get smashed from behind and is clearly a clip and its just not called its terriable. Also on offense i have noticed that the o-line is just plain STUPID, the jackasses just wonder around and do nadda. really kinda getting frustrated with this version and am seriouslly thinking of selling it once Madden drops unless the patch fixes a bunch of this CRAP

I just reread my post, its a rambling mess. What I was trying to say is mix stuff up and its enjoyable.

Glad I am not the only one feeling this way about Defense. Although i suck at this game the D is somewhat useless.

Still looking to get a game in without disconnecting.... :?

Sucks for you, but the defenses I have played, the defenders run the routes better than the WR's sometimes.
I feel like I have thrown more INT's in this years game then ever before.

Oh, and I_S33M...what is terrible is your spelling of terrible! :D

However, I will say that I like this years game so far. The routes that some people use to use as their "Go to" "Money Plays" are not working for them in this years game and now they are in trouble.

We are sitting here bitching about guys not covering good enough and LB's not being able to see the ball when they should, again, as buckeye stated, mix it up and have fun with it.

We have to remember one thing, this is college football, not the NFL. There is a big difference in real life between the two and as such, the game should showcase those differences also.
Now, don't get me wrong, I am not saying the game does not have it's flaws. I have been playing and yelled at my DB for not putting his hands up when he clearly saw the ball coming, but my point is that in college football, these things happen, hell, they happen at times in the NFL too.

So I actually like having some of the little flaws in the game, makes it more realistic in my opinion.

I do agree with everyone though about the triangle button not working, very annoying.

Defense is nonexistent in this game, unless your team is much much better than the other team.

So what your saying is that your team does play defense? :D

in my four games against letter grade or better teams, the opposing qbs are 14-18, 26-28, 22-26, 15-20. I am getting shredded and I keep trying everything, zone/man, blitz, 8 man back, Nothing I do seems to work. While my shitty QB misses wide open WRs. It seems my best chance is to hope for drops. I have never minded using shitty teams, I actually enjoy it but if I can't figure out how to counter these QBs completing 80-95% of passes, I am gonna have to leave Tulane for greener pastures.

My A rated team, yes, they do play defense against C- teams.

If I play another team comparable to mine and an owner who is competent on offense, we'll probably combine for 80 points and 800 yards passing, because pass defense is fairly nonexistent.

You have to get pressure on the QB to affect the passing game this year. Once you hit the QB the passes start missing there mark. You also have to hit the receivers weather they catch the ball or not. The only way to do that is to mix up you blitz package or you will get burned. Makes the game seem true to life and is keeping people from running the same plays all game that were money. I am loving this game for the first time since ps2 days.

I am not sure what everyone is up in arms about regarding the triangle button. It's the same shit it always has been. The triangle button works fine for me, but I only get interceptions 25% of the time. They drop or bat down the other 75% of them (this has happened on this game since it's creation). Meanwhile you catch the absolutely ridiculous interceptions (this has always happened as well).
I can only assume, and it is in my honest opinion that's majority of somes defensive woes stem from the fact that the schtick defense of the last 5 games ain't working anymore. No longer can you control your MLB and have your CB's right up at the line of scrimmage all game on defense and not pay the price. I as an offensive player can FINALLY get your user controlled MLB out of position by running strategic plays to do so. As it should be. The days of taking away 40% of an offensive's plays with one defender are over, at least for now anyways. Furthermore for the first time in ten fucking years you can throw deep again. Cheat up on the WR's? Uhh ohh a deep route is actually open, and guess what, darn it, you can get back to it with your fast CB anymore......damn. Pretty realistic for once if you ask me. In short mix up your defense and you'll have a defense. I have a shit ass team an have had success stopping and slowing teams down. I haven't won yet, but again I got a D team. In the end the same thing that happens in this league always happens in this league. The coaches that win usually will find a way to win again, end of story. Same shit, different season. I will wallow in mediocrity as I usual do, as I am to busy fucking around with multiple plays/sets.
