Won't be backward comp. bet on thatdakshdar wrote:256 GB HD? Pffft.
They're so cheap now, you can throw a 500 GB in for $50, they should be going for that, at least, with all the push on downloadable games.
As far as online costing money, I already pay for PS+ and I'd imagine it would get folded into that. If they bump it up beyond that, I'd have to consider whether I need it since NCAA is the only thing I play online.
Guess I can put off buying a blu-ray player to use for the spare room and just wait until the end of the year.... and starting saving the $600 it is going to be at launch (at least).
And it better be 10000000% backward compatible with everything from the PS3.
I know you don't want to hear this, but I swear I am doing it for good. Battlefield is THAT fucking good.Hoos wrote:I'm good. Get me a shooter game that doesn't blow and I'd be on. Blops2 is Meh at best.BFiVL wrote:Hoos, have you asked the wife if you can buy this yet?
They are using a new company for the chips so the games will not be backward compatiable. Here is an article. Plus you can't forget of selling games back as well.dakshdar wrote:256 GB HD? Pffft.

No way will you not be able to play used games on the console.Quest4Gold wrote: Less exciting are claims that PS4 won’t even bother with backwards compatibility for PS3 games and utilise some sort of anti-used game features – either through digital downloads or linking disks to PSN accounts. I don’t like the sound of that at all.

I know most of us are early adopters that have the original ps3s, but every ps3 since the 40 & 60 GB has not had backwards compatibility. When was the last time you played a ps2 game? Even in the first month of the console being out I wouldn't play them because the new tech was so awesome.dakshdar wrote:Not having backwards compatibility is awful.
Forcing people to buy new games would then help the game developers. Might make the rental companies turn to sales, buying in bulk to reduce cost vs buying in a retail storeThe_Niddler wrote:No way will you not be able to play used games on the console.Quest4Gold wrote: Less exciting are claims that PS4 won’t even bother with backwards compatibility for PS3 games and utilise some sort of anti-used game features – either through digital downloads or linking disks to PSN accounts. That would put a company like Gamefly out of business and seriously hurt places like GameStop!
The jump between PS2 and PS3 was huge. Non-HD to HD was a dramatic shift. I don't see where they're going to go with the PS4 since we don't have that next new visual level yet.sixpackdan101 wrote:I know most of us are early adopters that have the original ps3s, but every ps3 since the 40 & 60 GB has not had backwards compatibility. i would be shocked if the downloadable games aren't BC, but would be stunned if the discs were.dakshdar wrote:The jump between PS2 and PS3 was huge. Non-HD to HD was a dramatic shift. Plus, if it can't play disc based games, does that mean it can't play games from the PS Store? I have a ton of great games I've gotten through PS+. Not being able to play them on the PS4 when all it needs is an emulator is crazy. I think, for a launch system, backwards compatible at first is a must given the large library you can play of current generation games vs the small library of available next gen games when a console launches.

Companies make a few dollars per game that they sell.NCSUholmey wrote:Forcing people to buy new games would then help the game developers.
