That was horrible luck. 2 shot swing there.

Tiger might get dq'd.

i don't get what the debate would be? if he did something wrong, DQ him. if he didn't, why would this even be brought up?

this came up last night (from what i understand) and they haven't made a decision yet. what could possibly take so long to figure out? he messed up or he didn't. if he didn't this would have never been brought up.

i'm assuming there are some tourney officials, player agents, tv executives and sponsors debating right now

I don't see any problem with the drop. He dropped, what looked like on tv, about 2-3 feet behind the original spot. Was that not close enough?

I said yesterday to my wife when watching that it didn't appear to be in the same spot. He even admitted after the round that he dropped 2 yards back. The question is if 2 yards is close enough. The rule says you have to drop close to the original spot. Is 2 yards considered close? That is the debate.

Sure looked closer than 2 yards

yeah he said '2 yards' in reality they think it was closer to 2 or 3 feet.

i have no idea about golf rules, but if you're going to leave something up to interpretation with rules like 'as close as possible' than you pretty much have to go by the players word, no?

i mean unless the ball is dropped on top of the old spot, its not going to be 'as close as possible'

2 shot penalty for Tiger. No DQ

Wow, Rick Reilly just got through with some incoherent babbling lol.

He said the rule was fair and no one in the press room after Tiger's round questioned it, but said he still felt Tiger should withdraw himself.

Then he mentioned the new rule about signing an unknown scorecard and 1 minute later backtracked on saying Tiger should withdraw since the new rule is in place.

It was magical television.

I can't stand Rick Reilly. He's one of those people who thinks he's more intelligent and funny than he actually is.

This is where golf is idiotic.

There's a rules official on every hole. If the official doesn't say something at the time the supposed infraction takes place, no foul.

This is almost like the people that watch on TV, see the ball wiggle slightly in HD when the guy puts his club down, no one at the event sees the ball move, and the PGA reviews the replay and assesses a penalty or DQs the next day.

Watson making a move early... -3 on the day thru 5

Woods? I am sure he will find his way back to the top today though not that I care. ESPN/Tiger Vision is taking care of him

I feel bad for the 14 year old that supposedly was playing too slow (given a stroke penalty) in what one of the players described as a 6 hour round. Was glad players like Crenshaw stood up the kid. impressed with the kids composure for sure as I would shit my pants 3 times over on the first hole lol

agrre 100%. There is such thing called a provisional. IMO that should have been done had the rules official been on top of this. Players apparantly even questioned the drop at the time also?

I'm guessing he was caught messin around with mickelson's wife in the locker room, Phil walked in and a fight ensued.

But really, why in the world would Tiger be DQ'ed???
