I like Coreys idea. I think there are enough honest people that can honestly keep our best interest for this league.
devils advocate. I hope if 3-4 take over and share duties...that some insider shit does not start to happen. just saying. looking inside the game to actually see the true future of a 20/20 guy all of a sudden becoming a 80/80 guy. I know far stretch but I can't help but think that has not happened in other leagues....
now back to honest religious me:
I will help out if drafts and stuff by updating the boards if we stay with board drafting. past that I will not be a good assistant with the nuts and bolts of the ootp sims and all that. But I am willing to help where I can.

Congratulations JD. I am still new and learning something every day about playing the game so I do not think I would do much good if I tried to help. As I get more comfortable and get to know everyone and everything better I will try and help out with anything that I can.
As for what JD said about helping me about 2 hours he was being very modest. Combined I guarantee he has spent 5-6 hours getting me caught up on things and trying to help with strategy and things like that.

Congratulations on the 2nd incoming! Prepare yourself, it's a game changer compared to 1 (IMO).
2nd one is 10 times easier.
1st one pacifier falls on the floor we're boiling them to get the germs off
2nd one pacifier falls on the ground you blow it off
I didn't bother with all the super cleaning crap the first time around. I was using the 5 second rule on the pacifier right away (though neither of my kids has been interested in the pacifier).
The biggest difference to me is that with 1 you can still trade off free time between the parents pretty easily. With 2, free time for one means double duty for the other. For my wife, this doesn't seem like a big deal as she's home with them both all day anyway. When she leaves me alone with the two of them, and neither is asleep, I feel like Arnold in Kindergarten Cop... and there's only 2 kids!

I think that with the kids separate, a few years apart, things would be easier as far as, our son is going to be almost 3 1/2 when our next child is born.
At that age, he is pretty self sufficient, most of the time, with playing and such.
Currently, at a little over 2 1/2, he is already there.
He wants you involved at times, to build blocks or building things on his tool bench. So I am hoping that by the time our 2nd comes along, it is not hell for the parent that is watching them both.
I do see the points of the twins though. You struggle, but you struggle for half the time, or at least it feels like it would be this way.

Congrats brother.
If I was in the country I would throw my hat in but I cannot tell you what kind of consistency I would be able to provide here in iraq.

Congrats JD!
And please don't ever feel like you are failing us as a commish. I personally feel you have done a great job of holding everything together man. However in light of recent news I can totally understand you needing to step down.
To health and happiness! Salute!!

I won't say we're dealing with anything like twins, but two 18 months apart/two under 2 right now is... interesting.

Agreed.
I think we find (if we can) a person to be Commish, and then have Reign and JD chip in sims here and there and help with rollover here and there to keep it going. That's your "committee" but it all falls back to the head guy in the end.

AJ should run it and I'll help him whenever he needs. That way we know we have a consistent leader with history (AJ) and if he ever has problems he can communicate with me and I know how to run this shit just dont trust myself consistently doing it.

The problem is, I don't think we have anyone that has the schedule matched with the desire and the technical knowledge to make it happen.

I have no problem staying involved and helping run things, I just know I will not be able to commit to running things every day.

hey first and foremost congrats JD, and enjoy them while they are young, they grow up fast, my kids are out of college, though it seems like yesterday when we were young parents, congratulations.
Now to the commish thing, I always hate to see commissioners leave, sometimes the transition afterwards doesn't go smoothly and the league gets in trouble. I don't think this is the case here, as I've seen in my short time, a great core of GM's who are active and competitive. I have friend, named BIll who has been commishing OOTP leagues for a long time, and I called him today to ask him if he'd possibly be interested in taking over our league, he currently commishes 2 leagues, he is very experienced at it and his response to me about the NDL was positive. He does have some legitimate questions about how the league is run etc. I know for a fact that he sims early in the morning between 5-7 am eastern time. This is another option we have here in the NDL if we can not replace JD from within..

I like that idea as a 3rd party doing it as we have discussed that in the past.
Concern I have is he would need to be active on the boards and get to know the owners so when/if we need discussion on a rule or change he would need to know whats going on.
It is an idea but don't think it is the best with the community that we have here in the NDL and think someone can step up before going down that route.

Bill is one of the more active and knowledgeable guys I know in OOTP, I'm sure he would be active on the boards, he is a very dedicated commish and one helluva competitive GM. He does have some questions about the league which he would need to discuss before any transition were to take place.. FYI- I would not be helping Bill run the league just in case any of you guys were curious..

I think this sounds like a very legit option to discuss.
