Waiiiiiit, this thing doesn't have the newest games of Madden and FIFA?

I only see the '16 games.

With no 4K TV, possibly no access to the new EA Sports games for months, and and I'm still not sure how to do the Snap thingy without having to actually hook my Direct TV up through the Xbox.(which I'd prefer not do)... I have this feeling that I just bought an XBOX 1S that will be collecting dust in about a week.

I never play Madden so I thought Madden 16 was the newest

It should be there soon.

I am sure you have a receipt, return it :)

Returning it is definitely an option on the table as I feel there's really nothing for me to do with it.

I don't think the boys would be very happy though.

I thought you bought it for them considering you don't even play PS4?

Seems it's staying! Lol

I don't play cause I don't want to spend so much on games. I'd play if that EA thing had new games. Maybe they'll get em soon which would be fine. But if lags like almost a full year behind, then it's not worth it for me.

I like the feature to watch TV while playing but still have only found that if I hook my direct tv box up straight to the Xbox. But I'm not a fan of having to turn the Xbox on and off every time I just want to watch TV.

Hopefully Redzone works well on Sunday, that'll give me hope!!!

You don't have to have the Xbox on to watch TV. There is a pass-through feature.

He wants to use the snap feature to watch tv. I think you need to hook the cable box to the XB in order to do that.

I don't have cable so I don't use it that way. I just use the XB apps and snap those.

Of course to use snap it has to be on. But if he's just wanting to flip on the cable box and watch tv "sans" xbox, he doesn't have to turn on the xbox. which Is how I read it. my bad

How does one do this?

The way I have it set up with the HDMI cord going from the Direct TV to the XBOX, both have to be watched through the same HD Input on my TV, and the XBOX has to be on.

I'd prefer it the other way with 2 separate HDMI inputs so I don't have to have the XBOX on every time I want to only watch TV, but I'm not sure how to Snap like that.

I have my cable OUT hdmi going into Xbox IN. Then the single OUT from XBOX going into a receiver. Receiver then has a single MONITOR OUT to TV.
so if I hit power on the cable box, its just passing through xbox regardless of it being on or not.

I don't have a receiver. Mine just got straight to the TV.

I'll verify it on my end, but re-reading your setup, it shouldn't make a difference. The only caveat is to whether you may have the xbox using quick wake or complete shutdown. I use the quick wake feature which obviously keep some power to the unit which may allow the passthrough to work without the xbox being on.

Just use 2 separate HDMI cords

One from direct tv to tv
One from Xbox to tv

To use snap to watch directv content you will always need to get up and plug direct tv into Xbox

Re: X Box 1 S
Correct.

That's what I'll have to do, it just was not my expectation to have to do so each time I wanted to Snap.

What other way did you expect to get direct tv content through the Xbox?

I'm as confused as you now

If you have the directv hdmi to the xbox, then the xbox to the tv, as Pino stated, if you have the xbox off, it should still allow it to pass through to the tv.
Maybe it is the quick wake feature that you need to have the xbox in, but it should work as Pino does it and is able to watch directv or cable without the xbox being powered on.

Amazing price.

I have until January 15th to return mine to Best Buy and these deals keep getting better and better on it.

But that would require packing it all up and setting it up again so convenience may win out.
