You haven't noticed that 90% of your pitchers do not develop that changeup since we switched to 21?

Take Matt Collins from your R Ball team for example. You drafted him in the 2nd round of 2074. He is still sitting at 1/64 by my scout and 3/75 by OSA, surely he should have some development in 3 years right?

we also dont have coaches which might be a contributing factor to development. I have never truly understood what actual impact coaches had

Guys do seem to be developing in many cases at a snails pace

I believe we have to wait a couple of more seasons to put it to a vote whether we have coaches or not again. I honestly don't care if someone doesn't want a coach but I definitely did want to keep coaches just in case there was some kind of developmental advantage with coaches

This changeup thing is not from 21, it has been like this for a few versions.

It continues in 21 and I can't remember how far it goes back.

I'm just saying it is not a coaches thing. I honestly don't care if we have coaches or not but this changeup thing has been going on for probably 20 seasons so I can tell you it is not related to that.

its weird that ppl say changes dont dev but theyre the exact pitch Watson learned, Villaneuva greatly improved (to become a SP from MR), etc etc.

I was going to say the same. If only look at those that dont develop, have you looked at those that do develop?

Watson learned it from scratch. he was a 2 pitch MR i demoted and DFAd.. then he decided to learn a change and became a serviceable SP.

I have Carlos Delgado. His change up was quite low when I acquired him, it is now a a 60 potential. So not only has it developed but it's potential has also improved.

I put a filter on for anyone above 60 potential and then looked at guys that had major splits between overall and potential. I did know Villanueva learned the pitch and it has increased dramatically so I added him and saw that Shang was pretty much the same.

Komatsu (PHI) changeup went to 14 to 13 in 4 years (pot 58)
Gong (SF) changeup increased from 1 to 20 in 7 years (pot 58)
Pena (ANK) changeup increased from 15 to 22 in 7 years (pot 44)
Valazguez (WASH) changeup increased from 1 to 31 in 10 years (pot 57)
Ortiz (MIA) changeup went from 1 to 37 in 6 years but overall hasn't changed since '74 (pot 80)
Kwame (LA) changeup went from 1 to 37 in 6 years (pot 79)
Gonzalez (BOW) changeup went from 1 to 40 in 9 years (pot 66)
Garrett (CLE) changeup went from 1 to 40 in 8 years (pot 66)
Cano (BOS) changeuip went from 1 to 41 in 7 years (pot 79)
Patterson (MOO) changeup went from 21 to 43 in 5 years (pot 76)
Franco (EDM) changeup went from 21 to 45 in 4 years (pot 77)

There are definitely some outliers to this as well
Villanueva (MIA) changeup went from 1 to 70 in 5 years (pot 102)
Shang (DPRK) changeup went from 1 to 72 in 7 years (pot 99)

From what I saw is that if a guy learned the pitch they have a better chance of it developing. And it seems that the IC guys don't develop it well compared to the college kids.

You do know that learning a changeup isnt a guarantee in real life right?

Gonna go check who you have drafter over the past couple of seasons to see if there is a trend
