I run a pass offense and one season many moons ago some baller here wrote that I throw too many slants and outs? I found that amusing, would you rather me lob you to death?

As I said, I seen this rarely in the league but I seen in plenty where I expected to see it in the farm.

I'll just go back to viewing these pages once more without responding.

disclaimer: tfan is cool and beat me :D

i lost to ND by 3 pts this year, and i was 3rd and goal and i ran a option that i late pitched, so instead of scoring i went out of bounds, and kicked a FG (so 3 pts instead of 7 and i lost by 3). so I essentially lost a game cause i felt it was a bitch move.

thats my opinion. if you keep running it on me, i will dock you. im sick of people saying "its so hard to not do blah blah 2 second blah" ya ya, thats why some people can option perfectly fine and others option after they're hit.

I think it's dealt with. It seems as we want to nitpicking every little thing that the game allows us to do now. Wether it's a feature that allows us to have a chance at a GL stand, late. Pitches, fake snaps etc... Soon we'll be voting on wether or not to use even teams so someone doesn't get an advantage.

For the record. I haven't used an option team or anything I just think our nitpicking is getting silly. Yes, doc I know why you're thinking.... Sigh.

If that's the case then guys might as well do jump the snap all game and be in the backfield taking the handoff before my HB can. I stand by what I said, continuously late pitch vs. me and you'll be docked.

It's not by accident, it's on purpose. WITH THAT SAID, last season my first season back I saw the late pitch I believe one whole time in 11 games and this was a headset game and I didn't think anything of it.

Now, I saw it plenty in the farm. Good grief.

HEADSETS DO MAKE A DIFFERENCE.
I agree, just because it's not against rules doesn't make it right. I personnally do not run an option, very little if at all and I am not defending the late pitch but I really wouldn't dock someone if it happened a couple times a game. Now if you a guy is gonna run that option and do that every single time then yes thats out of hand and they are abusing a "flaw". Honestly though, if someone is doing that and made it this far past the FARM and into the league and played this entire season then I would be amazed that they made it that far in this league. Guys I played this season never abused anything from what I seen and that is what I expect when I am playing guys that have been in this league for a minute and have gone through the FARM process. Like you said bro you may have seen it once in eleven games and that's good.I think perhaps we are debating something that rarely happens, lol. I think I may have just misread that and took it wrng like you were just looking to dock guys if they did it once or twice but yeah if it's done on a continuous basis then thats abusing and not used in "moderation" so to speak.

I know what you mean...sometimes I like to debate and "discuss" things here, but then other times guys take it personal...and it's JUST A GAME. I think threads like this are good for the league...as long as guys don't start making it personal but discussion can't hurt things (I'm with you Tom ;))

I couldn't agree more with the mentality of moderation (learned that in the Farm from Dr. Tom and will never forget it).

I get where you're coming from and I honestly never felt like I intentionally "late" pitch...I'm not saying it doesn't happen so I guess that's my point when I make my stand about it. When it does happen, some guys will dive, some will gain a couple and run out of bounds. I think that's a preference and gets lumped into the "run with QB discussion...another thread, another time." My concern is when guys dock coaching reports for it. If it happens again and again...then just like anything, I understand. I think much has to do with how the other guy is playing and headsets/chatting on AIM/communication ALWAYS MAKES FOR A BETTER EXPERIENCE OVERALL and can clear up concerns.

To me, "cheesing" is against the rules (i.e. nanoblitzing, abusing the jump the snap feature, throwing the money pass each down) I hope by now we can agree on what cheesing is/is not. If you have some doubts...just do what rags was talking about and play in the Farm...been there, done that.

On a side note...thanks for starting this champ..gives us NON-VEGAS guys waiting on next season something to chat about!

I'm not trying to be an ass here, but Yragha seemed to contradict himself.

He said just because it's not in the rules, doesn't mean it's ok, and that's true.

But then he said he thought it was ok when he was only throwing slants and outs for an entire game even though he got docked for it.

As with everything, MODERATION is the name of the game.

:D he changed from 1 freebie to maybe two... but I was overlooking that as not to make this an argument but rather an educated discussion ;) It's all good...I think we're all on the same page here.

I still think its cheesy as hell. Sorry, just my feeling. I will dive with my running back everytime or take him straight to the sidelines if i late pitch on accident or not. I just dont feel right about picking up yardage like that.(i know in real life that this is how a perfect option would work....but not in EA's version of NCAA football where my electronic defenders are running around with there thumbs up there ass.) Is it the right thing to do???? Who knows, just the way i play the game. Will i dock points on CR's if i see it......No. If i see it all game well then yes im going to let you know i didnt appreciate you late pitching the entire game. Did i see it alot this season??....No, and when i did see it, it almost everytime was intercepted or fumbled.

Its still in the game, but no where near last seasons game.
My stance exactly. Id rather take the dive than take it into hte endzone knowig that whether i mean to or not, the play is flawed. I know its the the righ way to run the option, but until the AI is fixed its still a questionable way to run an offense as your primary offense. thats my 2 cents.

so good..he had to state it twice, gotta love tfan!

I can appreciate this philosophy, but then how do you apply it to all the other EA "flawed" plays that happen in the game? Either way, it's still just a game and everyone needs to remember that and have fun.

It is cheesy as hell, and it's a major reason I try not to run the option at all.

It is so easy to avoid this by simply making sure that you pitch early. People who wait to get contacted because they think it's "more real" are kidding themselves because that's where the bs comes from

This is a GREAT thread, guys. Very well handled and good communication. There's no one right answer and no one should be looking for one......Everyone just giving their opinion on a topic! Good stuff and would love to see this occur more often, here on the boards.

you guys need to post video of this so called late pitch. Is it a late pitch if your qb is getting hit and he is pitching or when the quarterback is twisted around and then gets a pitch off? True option football is when the quarterback keeps the ball long enough for the defender to choose between the two guy option guys.

I agree with PDR on this one all the way.

LOL. Agreed Buckeye.

It's one thing to be ok with the late pitch, but it's hard to believe someone who plays in this league hasn't seen the late pitch.

Questie Quest, I'm sure you've seen the really late pitch where the QB is wrapped up going down, then all of a sudden the ball shoots out of his body, not a pitch, just shoots out a perfect pitch to the RB.
