Thank you vicktim, you put it in a lot better verbage than I ever could. I just can't seem to ever put my thoughts into the words I want in a way that it comes across as clearly as your post did.

Dr Victim7 said it very well. I had a hard hard time with this stuff growing up in the church for years. It became clear to me when I realized I had to stop thinking of sin in regards to what anyone else does, it is only between me and God as I answer for what I have done to him alone. He does not compare my life to any other person, only to his standard with is perfection. The hardest part for us is to admit our flaws and humble ourselves. It is truly a daily process of putting our flesh nature aside because of our love for him love for us. The other thing that truly took me deeper in my faith and understanding was learning that our Americanized version of what we call sin is not what God calls it, the Biblical definition of sin is putting yourself before God in not just action but thoughts and motives. If we use that definition then it is clear we all screw up daily on a massive level, but that is what makes His grace so amazing.

Its just hard for me to believe so much into something that no one really knows or has ever seen. On the other hand thats the beauty of religion if you have faith in your god, then you believe you can end up in heaven then that is awesome and I have mad respect for people who believe every word of their faith, just dont bash it onto others.....

In the mean time in purgatory ill take a Gin and Tonic......and they show college football games in there too right?

Packsy, has anybody ever seen gravity?

Or the wind?

We don't see these things, yet we see their effects on the world. We see their effects on everyday life. That is what faith IS--it's the belief in something that cannot be seen or "proven".

Now think about this, and you don't have to answer here, but answer it to yourself....

If you found something that gave your life so much purpose, so much joy, and made it worth living every day to the fullest....and you knew that WITHOUT it, your life would be empty, hollow, and your soul would be in danger....

Would you keep it to yourself? Or would you tell your friends, your family, anybody you meet, anybody you care about, so that they could not only share in that joy and happiness, but also so that you would know their soul would be saved? That is why so many Christians--not the "famous" ones, not the ones who get on TV every week and thump their bibles, but everyday Christians--witness and spread the Gospel to those around them. It's not something to be hidden, it's not something to be kept secret, it's something to be shared.

Except gravity and wind are provable beyond a shadow of a doubt.

Religion has been used throughout the history of mankind to explain that which was not explainable.

Greeks and Romans used myths of Zeus and their gods to explain that which they could not comprehend, light lightning from the sky.

Egyptians used myths of their gods to explain how the sun rose and set each day and how they'd travel across the land of the dead.

Christians use their belief in god to explain the birth of men and the beasts of the Earth among other things.

Over time, science and knowledge sufficiently explains away most everything that religion has been used to explain in the past. Religious text becomes second hand tales that are in many cases not believable and in almost all cases completely unprovable.

The majority of the things that were not comprehensible to man in the past are now understood and have common knowledge. Lightning is not thrown from the sky by a mighty immortal, the sun is not carried across the sky by a winged horse driven chariot, and man didn't suddenly appear on Earth one day in his present form. For those things that we still have doubt about (what caused the Big Bang, where is all the dark energy in space that is missing) then it is not impossible to feel that there is some higher level of power that we do not understand.

Only way you can group Christianity together with ancient gods of the Romans and others like them is cause you have not researched them evidently.

They're all examples of religion. I think it would be foolish of me to put Christianity on a pedestal while not giving Thor and Loki their due as well. So Christianity based their Bible on the exaggerated stories of a person who was probably real. There are real mortals in Greek, Roman, and Norse mythology that also likely existed, so why rank Christian mythology differently?

There are massive differences between Christianity and any other religion out there. To begin with check out any other religion and it will tell you people are good deep down, this is the exact opposite of what we believe as followers of Christ. All that ancient gods were distant and demanded sacrifice for pretty much anything you wanted all, be it crops, health, or anything really. In the old testament God asked for sacrifices for the atonement of mans sins. Both were animal sacrifices, but the purposes are extremely different. Then you have Jesus claimed to be God in flesh come to make a way for all sins to be covered and fulfill the covenant God made with Abraham in the old testament. The big thing here is so many will say Jesus was dude with good ideas or a nice teacher, but the thing is he claimed to be God. So he is either a liar, and that would heinous thing to say the least as people still die for following him every day around this world. Or a lunatic who people just happened to have become one of the biggest names in the history of the world. Or He was and is God. Very simply one of these 3 has to be true given His claim, and if there is even a .0000001% of a chance that He is God how crazy would it be for someone to not deeply and seriously study this with an open mind and humble heart. This has never been about me saying I am right and anyone else it wrong, it is about that I know I have His peace, His joy, love, and forgiveness in my life, how horrific would it be not to do whatever I can to tell others of his love?

Exactly Pengy.

If God doesn't exist, nothing matters. If God DOES exist, then nothing ELSE matters.

I am not willing to let my soul be at risk. Some are. I don't get it.

God's love is free. All you have to do is believe and ask for it, and welcome Him into your heart.

Heard all this some time ago, go read some of Josh Mcdowells books and get back to me. First flaw right off the bat in that first video is that he attacks Christ dying for our sins while giving no credit to the fact that is not a case of a human being sacrificed for other humans. It was God humbling himself, living as a man, and willing taking our punishment upon him. I could go on, but I read plenty about this guy and others like him when I was searching when I was in high school and it mostly centers around they do not believe in the deity of Christ, creation happening in literal 7 days, and that the world wide flood never happening. It is true if Jesus was not God then it all of Christianity falls apart. If this is what you chose to believe then that is your choice, but I do hope you will or have taken the time to listen to people who make a case for both sides in addition to studying yourself without preconceived opinions of what you want to find.
