Miami takes down Arkansas State pretty easily. The Canes went up 38-0 at halftime on a 39 yard FG by Ryan King. The backups played the entire second half and gained some valuable playing time and experience but the star of the show was QB Ryan Wells who went 19/25 376 and 4 tds in less than a half. He also added a late second quarter run when the canes were trying to chew up the clock.
The defense played well against less than stellar opponent. Miami will have a Bye then back to back user games vs Akron and Penn State before jumping into the ACC schedule.

South Bama did a bit of everything vs Ole Miss, as seeing what works and what doesn't was big part of this game. Early experiments on both sides of ball had mixed results and saw the Rebs leading 7-14 after one quarter. Things tightened up from there as the defense began to take shape, and highlighted their performance with a couple pick 6s by the new NB, a goalline stand punctuated with an interception by the backup SS on 4th down, and MLB Roberts picked right up were he left off on leading the NCAA in tackles with 13 to start the season. The offense had a slow start, but finished with a solid running effort, and the passing game showed the ability to go deep far better than in previous seasons. The main areas that will need attention next game are the 40% conversion rate on 3rd downs, and fumble by star TE C. Williams that killed a promising early drive. Special teams had their own ups and downs as well, with a shocking pulled PAT by the new K Harrison (who moved from punter this past offseason), but he also had the highlight blasting a 58 yard FG against the wind with plenty of room to spare. Odds are he will get a chance from 60ish at some point this season.
Next up is Baylor in a game that should allow for more fine tuning of the playcalling.

I'm sure you're referring to Instant Commit, but you do realize we can't see that until after the advance right?

Ran, today probably isn't going to work. I won't say 100% but it's pretty close to that. Tomorrow is another big maybe. Depends on whether I get everything done today or not. Tuesday is looking okay, but would be after 430pm CST and, as I'm sure you guys are tired of hearing, must start no later than 830.
...and I'm really, really, really glad I don't have to fight it out with you for that SS now.

USA 55
Baylor 13
The good, the running game completely ravaged the Baylor defense and the Jags D dominated 3rd downs holding Baylor to 1/13.
The bad, lost the turnover battle with the 2nd team offense turning it over twice once they came in, and the D gave up over 300 yards of total offense.
The ugly, top WR Witherspoon, a (rs) Senior that had seen his roll increase till finally gaining the #1 spot in the depth chart this season, fractured his foot while running a sweep and will miss the rest of the season. No word yet if the coaching staff with burn the RS of any of the 5 WRs who were planned to sit out this season.

It's not that impressive really

, 2 are JUCOs that I signed this season, and the last 3 were part of the mess of guys I signed in the class before and one from this class who are rated 73, 72, and 68 so they are more likely to get cut next offseason than see the field.

I'm still blown away by the fact that 84 rated Fr. WR of mine transferred. He was third on the team in receptions, I believe 2nd in yards, and had like 5 or 6 TD's. Then transfers due to playing time....

If so I think we know what happened.

With my luck he transferred to OSU as I left.
