Re: 2016 Presidential Election
You'll never get Pence. He will never be impeached, the Democrats do not have the votes. The only thing Nancy is doing is rallying the Republican Party. If you think otherwise you are drinking the Kool aide. He has a >90% approval rating among Republican voters. This is only going to get them even more into the no democrat movement.
There are only assumptions on why they are doing this. They have no facts about anything. And this releasing of the tapes is a bad preference to set, not just for him but all politicians. They've decided to take this route, what happens if there is no smoking gun when he releases the transcripts? They can't back down now, but what are they going to impeach him on?
Just a caveat, I have not watched any news today so I am only going off of what I have seen in the last 5 minutes of watching the news. And this is a horrible time to watch the news. I cannot stand Hannity so I only get the never trump CNN or MSNBC for their slant on this

And I'm curious what's going on with the whistl-blower. Supposedly this person doesn't even have first hand knowledge. Ii hope that's not true

Re: 2016 Presidential Election
You can read the transcript summary here so you can form your own opinion:
https://www.cbsnews.com/news/trump-ukra ... e-updates/
This is what I get out of it:
first couple of pages was political dick stroking on both sides
Both bashing Marcon and Merkel on how they aren't doing anything for Ukraine. This is what can actually cause more problems for foreign relations. To me, this was the true story in this whole transcript.
Only quote regarding Biden:
The other thing, There's a lot of talk about Biden's son, that Eiden stopped the prosecution and a lot of people want to find out about that so whatever you can do with the Attorney General would be great. Biden went around bragging that he stopped the prosecution so if you can look into it ... It sounds horrible to me.
And then it finishes with some more political dick stroking
I'd like to see the actual transcript to form a better opinion but with this I don't see anything "impeachable" here. The dems are not going to get anywhere with this one (on it's own). Curious how the IG report and the whistle-blower report ties into this and how far off they are. I believe if it is way off the actual transcript will be released (especially if Trump believes nothing was done wrong).
There is zero quid pro quo here. CNN and MSNBC are trying their damnest to tie multiple things together to show implied quid pro quo. Biden is on video showing absolute true quid pro quo, this is something you cannot argue against.
Do yourself a favor and read it if you are for or against impeachment. If you care less either way, then you probably aren't in this thread anyways.

Re: 2016 Presidential Election
Correct me if I am wrong as I have not followed the news much lately but didn't he withhold 250 million of approved military aid the week before (or after, I can't remember) this happened?

Re: 2016 Presidential Election
I believe so, but to tie it to quid pro quo for Biden cannot be proven. I heard he was trying to get the EU to step up and help as well (maybe that is what was being referred to). But I am not 100% positive.wdoupis wrote:Correct me if I am wrong as I have not followed the news much lately but didn't he withhold 250 million of approved military aid the week before (or after, I can't remember) this happened?
But, the Obama administration withheld 1.5B until the prosecutor was fired. I'm sure you have seen the video of Biden actually bragging about this. So you have that as well.

Re: 2016 Presidential Election
How quickly the left will shift.
Adam Schiff just said in a news conference that the transcript didn't have to show quid pro quo. This has been the absolute narrative from the left for the past couple of days. If that doesn't make you think this is an "impeach at all costs" democrat party then you are sorely mistaken.

Re: 2016 Presidential Election
I'd say it's 50/50 right now he doesn't get re-elected. All depends on the democrat nominee. And they have some serious flaws with the nominees.nick wrote:does it even matter? isnt his term done in a yr?
Biden: younger voters more than likely not to get out and vote (one of the reasons hillary lost when the sanders supporters didn't go out and vote)
Sanders/Warren: older voters not buying into socialist policies
the field: nobody really cares about the rest, maybe Harris but she would be easily defeated.
If the democrats really wanted to win, they would nominate Gabbard. I'd vote for her

Re: 2016 Presidential Election
Like I said, I enjoy politics. And I hate people that can't look at facts for what they are. I have not seen a factual reason to go forward with the impeachment inquiry, although I may be biased here which I admit. We spent 2.5 years of the left saying there was PROOF that Trump colluded with Russia, insert Maury meme of that was a lie here. It's getting old.shel311 wrote:GeorgesGoons wrote: If you think otherwise you are drinking the Kool aide.George is in mid-season political debate form today!GeorgesGoons wrote:If that doesn't make you think this is an "impeach at all costs" democrat party then you are sorely mistaken.
So here is my primal take on how divisive this country is right now between republicans and democrats. Think Iraq for a second with each "faction" of the muslim faith, shiite and suni. They have been at odds with each other for as long as anyone can remember. This is how ISIS was able to go into the second largest city in Iraq and be accepted. The Shia government of Iraq was oppressing the suni minority. They hate each other, willing to kill women, kids and elderly to prove they are right.
This is our country now, minus the killings. God forbid if you try to have an educated talk with someone of democrat party (from my dealings so far). The left will call a Trump supporter every name in the book and be okay with it. You cannot have an educated discussion with someone like that. Not all Trump supporters are racist, but the left says they all are. Not all Trump supporters are uneducated, but the left says they are. I can't even come up with some vague correlational of the democrats like they do for the republicans.
But this is where we are as a society. If you don't believe in my politics you are an idiot, racist or whatever you want to insert here. It's sad!

Re: 2016 Presidential Election
Supposedly this guy actually observed the autopsy and had access to all of the final reports:
Jeffrey Epstein's autopsy more consistent with homicidal strangulation than suicide, Dr. Michael Baden reveals
Not so Newsworthy but figured I'd keep it here where this was most discussed.

Also to add, with my love for true crime, Baden is probably the most world famous medical examiner and has multiple shows, documentaries, and notable autopsies so this is a pretty huge affirmation from him.

Re: 2016 Presidential Election
I'd say he is a little biased here though. He has been hired by the Epstein estate, so it is in his best interest to throw some curveballs in there. He never said it was homicide, just that he never seen these broken bones in a suicide (from the interview I watched).Cnasty wrote:Also to add, with my love for true crime, Baden is probably the most world famous medical examiner and has multiple shows, documentaries, and notable autopsies so this is a pretty huge affirmation from him.
But since he has the name recognition this is going to catch steam. I'd love to see all these high powered pedophiles go down.

Sure he can be biased as the hand that feeds is leading that conclusion but clinically he is arguably the best in the business so its interesting to hear such an emphatic comment.

I would venture to say that we could ask 100 people and the only guy they could name would be him. It definitely may expand the inquiry into the people he hung out with.Cnasty wrote:Sure he can be biased as the hand that feeds is leading that conclusion but clinically he is arguably the best in the business so its interesting to hear such an emphatic comment.

politics baffle me. I guess i should say people who are so locked in to one political party or the other and simply will not budge …..they baffle me.
Trump...Obama....whoever.....my life really hasn't changed a single bit if I am being honest
I have said in the past. If people want to care so much about politics.....focus more locally IMO

It still does not guide my lifestyle or any huge impact but I have never seen more people openly vocal about politics then in Texas.
And guns of course

Re: 2016 Presidential Election
The look on Dana Bash's face is priceless.
This was Cuomo trying to prove you can hear someone else phone call, live on air! This is on the same level of Marcia Clarke/Chris Darden and the glove. Never do something live without knowing the outcome first when trying to prove a point.
Not trying to get into the impeachment rabbit hole with anyone. Found this hilarious, especially when something backfires in their face
