My $0.02. I agree with you. Bama had their shot, at home, and lost, sorry but not good enough. If Okie State wins, they deserve the shot, if not, VA Tech if they beat Clemson. If they were both to lose, then I'd give Bama their second chance only because Stanford and Boise aren't conference winners and Oregon would have 2 losses. I would like to see Houston have a shot if this scenario works out, but I don't think that would be much of a game.steelcitychaos wrote:To me it seems politics is trying to make this LSU-BAMA NC game happen. Before someone rakes me over the coals please finish reading
These teams are in the top 10 of the BCS
1. LSU
2. Alabama
3. Oklahoma State
4. Stanford
5. Virginia Tech
6. Houston
7. Boise State
8. Arkansas
9. Oregon
10. Oklahoma
Lsu did enough to beat Alabama on their home turf, but Alabama showed me nothing in that game to say they deserved to be the #2 team in the country. The only thing that separates the teams with 1 loss is who they lost to, that is all you have to go off of. on a Neutral field anything can happen, Okie State, Stanford, Virginia Tech would all have a shot on a Neutral field. there is a chance that they might not get there shot. Supposedly the system was fixed after the 2002 (Nebraska lost to Miami in the NC game after not playing in the Big 12 championship game), it was stated then that a team that does not win their own conference would have a harder time making it to the NC game. Alabama possibly will make that statement a lie. Honestly Alabama had their shot to at LSU on their home turf and couldn’t get the job done, why should they get a second chance at LSU? The hype leading up to the LSU-bama game was over-done based on the actual product produced on the field, if these 2 face off in the NC game I can’t even imagine the hype that will be involved to convince people to watch a rematch.

Plus-one solves all. I am going to keep repeating that anywhere I have a discussion about college football.

Know what else is flawed:
NFL- 7-9 team gets to go to the playoffs while 10-6 teams sit at home and watch.
NBA- Team under .500 goes to the playoffs while 50 win teams sit at home.
March Madness- Team you never heard of goes 9-18, but wins 3 straight games and gets to go to the dance over a team that goes 17-12 with a MUCH tougher schedule.
All those things are flawed as well, but no one ever complains about em.

Then bama is the Champs, much like 2007 New York Giants.nick wrote:best part is, if BAMA-LSU 2 happens and Bama wins, then it's 1-1 on the year...then what?
Or, have a playoff, and you can still have Bama beat LSU in the championship game, and be 1-1 vs LSU. Then what?
I feel like 99% of the issues people bring up with the BCS would have the same exact issue with a 4 or 8 team playoff, much like this one.
Re: Week 13 College Football
College basketball is ridiculous. If I didn't bet on it, I'd have zero interest in the tournament. The NBA and the NHL invite too many people to the fucking playoffs. Half the league? And, in hockey, eight seeds routinely knock #1 seeds out. The NFL is different. For starters, that 7-9 Seattle team going in with 10-win teams watching was a really big fluke and you won't see anything like that any time soon. It happened a few years ago with Denver going 8-8 and New England missing the playoffs at 11-5 but even that was exceptionally rare.shel311 wrote:This is true.DRiccio21 wrote:its all opinion, thats why college football is flawed.

All told, the NFL can get away with such silliness every so often because: 1) there isn't any "strength of schedule" as you are all playing the same schedule, by and large. You get the same six divisional games that are always a crapshoot, a random spattering of conference teams that are based on last year's results, and then your entire division plays the same teams from the other conference. It is really uniform unlike every other sport outside of soccer.
Plus-one solves all. We'd have Louisiana State and Alabama in while Virginia Tech, Oklahoma State, Houston, Stanford, and Boise State get to fight over who isn't going to be left out. And I am fine with that. Like I said to Shel, if #5 gets fucked, well, it sucks, but oh well.
Re: Week 13 College Football
Oklahoma State just got fucked by its schedule. Because of bad luck with their scheduling, every win they had on their schedule was accompanied by a loss - even in their non-conference where they beat Louisiana-Lafayette and Arizona but Arizona and ULL played last week (odd, right?*). The other loss was Tulsa and then the rest were all conference games or byes so they were zero sum. It doesn't help that the higher-ranked teams almost all lost.
Last Week (Parenthesis show either what are this week
Louisiana State 1.000
Oklahoma State .950
Alabama .930
Arkansas .870 (.780)
Kansas State .840 (.780)
This Week (Parenthesis show either what were last week
Louisiana State 1.000
Alabama .950
Oklahoma State .930
Stanford .820 (.660)
Oklahoma .800 (.800)
EDIT: * - In fact, I think that is EXTREMELY fucking odd.

You can go undefeated in college football and not have a chance at the championship.
Again.
You. can. go. undefeated. in. college. football. and. not. have. a. chance. at. the. championship.
Simple as that. And it makes CFB a joke.

Re: Week 13 College Football
ohhhhh thanks Nick! Shooooocking you'd have this point of view!!!TUSCALOOSA, Ala. -- Nick Saban has a message to the poll voters who will help determine whether Alabama plays for a national title: Be "fair."
The Crimson Tide coach, who of course has a rooting interest, said Monday that voters should not vote against his team just to avoid a rematch with No. 1 LSU or because Alabama didn't win its conference title.
"If somebody does that, I guess it's their choice to do it," Saban said. "It's a free country. But the whole thing should be based on who's the best two teams. Isn't that what it's supposed to be? If it's not on that, then it doesn't matter whether we've played before or any of that.
I'll upset my buddy bfivl, but this guy is an asshole. can't stand him
