As if the DeGea saga didn't drag on long enough... someone might have screwed the deal up and caused the paperwork not to be filed in time!

So RM has pissed along through the transfer talks and tried to lowball MU on DeGea since June. MU started playing games and trying to get Ramos and other stuff in the deal. The 2 clubs finally come to an agreement in which MU gets Keylor Navas and RM pays a pretty reasonable price. Now keep in mind, RM has jerked Navas around on a few occasions with his playing situation, yet he still wants to play there. MU has been pretty mum on DeGea. So by rule, Spain's transfer window ended tonight and England can transfer through sometime tomorrow. Apparently, MU filed their paperwork with their federation today, on time by Spain's standards, but it was RM that was late getting their information into LFP.

LFP has never gone back and allowed for an extension or grace period in a situation involving paperwork. At this point, the deal appears to be dead. With that said, this is RM and UEFA/FIFA are both getting involved, so it still might happen. In the meantime, RM had scheduled an unveiling of DeGea (with a signed new contract!) for tomorrow at 1p and they have had Navas sitting around in the offices waiting to finalize a deal that he isn't even happy with.

Now here's a bigger kicker... if the deal doesn't get done and nothing gets cleaned up in January, there's a possibility that RM could be hit with a transfer ban for 2016... they wouldn't be able to get DeGea then either!

It's been a crazy few hours following this. Funny stuff.

Somebody's lying.

One of these two teams has a history of strong-arming teams, leaking information through the media to cause problems with a player they want and the club he plays for, and then waiting until late in the transfer window to get a deal done as the player is demanding a move.

One of them is not named Manchester United.

It was pretty funny... United replied to RM's 10 point list with a list of their own... in the end, it really does look like RM not only pissed around in making a good offer, but they also fubared the final paperwork process. About the only thing that United can be blamed for is taking 8 hours to get a contract hammered out with Navas... everything else was setup on their end. Honestly, 8 hours is pretty reasonable for working a new contract with a new player.

I think the fact that RM didn't even attempt to petition and Man U offered to give them their time stamped information, is enough to go by. :-P

So watching Euro Qualifier between Romania and Greece. During halftime, they don't have any show or anything so they just repeat highlights 10 times and then go to whatever the camera men are panning to without commentary. It's about 10 minutes of them zooming in on random hot Romanian chicks.

The match thread on Reddit for tonight's USA-Brazil friendly lists the venue as "Deflategate Stadium, Foxborough, Massachusetts"

on a scale of 1-10 ... 1 being an mls friendly and 10 being a world cup final ... what is this game in terms of importance?

It was an 8. We needed this match for World Cup prep.

I'm done with Jurgen. As Bob Ley said tonight, in most nations that takes soccer more seriously, this would have been his final match. We are regressing and we have no system. More concerning is the fact that our U-23 team (remember, Jurgen's supposed to be developing our youth system) couldn't beat Honduras today in Olympic qualifying.

Who do you want? Who can we realistically get?
