Isolated Power or ISO is a sabermetrics baseball statistic which aims to measure a batter's raw power. The formula is slugging percentage minus batting average. The final result measures how many extra bases a player averages per at bat. A player who hits only singles would thus have an ISO of 0. The maximum ISO is 3.000, and could only be attained by hitting a home run in every at-bat. Power hitters ordinarily have an ISO between .240 and .300.
I don't get the relevance of this ISO stat, it's just not clicking for me.
isolated power.

32 of Cabrera's 47 hits have been singles.. thats super impressive from a power hitter
last yr
21.5% hits = Home Runs
0% = Triples
23.4 % = Doubles
59% = Singles
this yr
12.8% hits = Home Runs
2% = Triples
17% = Doubles
68% = Singles
1 out of 5 hits last yr were home runs compared to 1 out of 10 this yr. 4 out of 10 hits were XBH last yr compared to 3/10 this year.
but you could just look at his ISO numbers to see this.

Nick, seriously man, you're reaching. like stupidly.
the guy won the fucking triple crown last year. yeah, he's WAY overrated

youre an idiot AJ. at what point did I say last year wasnt impressive? im comparing stats to people who think THIS year is impressive. its not. its very high avg with no power.. FROM MIGUEL CABRERA.
Furthermore, 2 of the 3 triple crown stats are overrated (Avg to OBP and Rbi is directly correlated to the people on base before you which you have no control over) and Mike Trout was more deserving of the MVP anyways but lost due to this triple crown BS.
But ya, keep talking AJ.

sample size assholes. were people talking about how great his year was after 5 weeks last year?
whether the triple crown categories are over rated or not is irrelevant. Youre saying they are overrated because your guy (trout in this case) didnt win them. He had just as much chance to win AVE....an 'overrated' stat
If you want to compare last year to this year, compare his 1st 5 weeks this year to 1st 5 weeks last
then maybe you can tell us how "oh yeah...everyone is afraid of Lester, Buchholz, dempster, and whoever..."

what the fuck are you talking about? lol. hes hitting higher avg with worse power numbers. so you think his power numbers will increase and his avg will dip? then hes having a normal season and thats not impressive its expected. Unless you think he'll suddenly gain power and keep his avg in tact? which lol no.
as for your boston comments, nothing im gonna say will change your thinking of them theyre your fav team, but if you think theyll continue their 103 win pace you are LOL day dreaming. Dont let the Boston regression hurt too much

You think them being my favorite team has helped them get out to a 21-12 record? Even if they regress they'll be 10 games better than the Jays. You know the team you thought would run away with the East after getting a bunch of players of a seperate last place team.
lets combine last place teams then I'm sure we'll be gooooood!!!!!
I thought we were talking facts here.
I never said Cabrera was having a "better" year. I couldnt begin to tell you as he isnt on any of my fantasy teams.

Less power doesn't necessarily mean less good.

graphed Cabreras career. his doubles are declining and his hrs fluxuate lol.
if you look at the graph, hes closest to his 7th yr (2009 with tigers) where he finished .324/.396/.547 .. with 34 hrs and 34 doubles. .. but his singles are much higher and so im gonna project he finishes
if fielder doesnt hit a HR, he hits a single lol. his triples/doubles are the same and his HR/Single go like a mirror.. kinda weird

Slugging shows how many total bases a hitter gets per AB.
ISO power shows how often they get those extra bases per AB.
They give different info despite both dealing with total bases/extra bases.
