If you didn't watch the Dortmund-Schalke match this morning you missed a good one. Dortmund was up 4-0 at the half. They got two goals back and then Dortmund went down to 10 men and Schalke came back and tied it with a goal in stoppage time. We then had a good, old fashioned German soccer slappygrabbing fight. Fun match. There was also a hysterically comical fake injury by a Dortmund defender in the 89th minute.
Got my tickets, all games in Moscow over 5 days.
Germany vs Mexico, Argentina vs Iceland, Portugal vs Morocco and Poland vs Senegal

UCL Round of 16 draw was this morning... (my guesses in blue)
Juventus vs. Tottenham
Basel vs. Manchester City
FC Porto vs. Liverpool
Sevilla vs. Manchester Utd Real Madrid vs. Paris Saint Germain
Shakhtar Donetsk vs. AS Roma
Chelsea vs. FC Barcelona Bayern München vs. Besiktas
Tough break for Chelsea and Tottenham. Madrid and PSG will battle for the Neymar Cup.

Man, I hadn't checked this thread in a few months haha
The biggest issue with US Soccer will never get fixed, and that's coaching.
In Iceland, one of every 300 adults has a UEFA coaching license--the highest coaching badge in Europe. Costs them a few hundred dollars to get it. Doesn't cost a ton more than that in nations like Germany, Italy, and Spain.
In America, we built a system like England did, where it costs an absurd amount of money (close to five figures in England, and well over $20k here) to get a license. Notice how England is struggling to put out top-level, technical talent the likes of which you see from other European nations? We have the same problem here....and we don't have the people clamoring to play like in England. It has led to a horribly low number of people holding A or B licenses,
Now....if I've spent 20K or more to get an A-license here....I'm not coaching any youth teams on the weekend, or out looking at them. I'm getting a job at some prep school or a university, etc. I won't have any impact on kids who need to be located, developed, etc.
As a friend of mine who plays professionally here in the US once said, when you go overseas and watch young players playing in local leagues, the coaches are telling the kids tactics, or telling them to play through balls or hit early crosses.
In America, you go to a weekend match at the local level and you hear..... "KICK IT, JOHNNY! KICK THE BALL!"
There is a reason Pulisic and other kids like him develop into better players when they go overseas at younger ages to train. Until the access to coaching training and licenses is addressed, nothing will really change unless we get lucky and find the promising young players and get them developed by competent coaches before they're too old.
