Here is the math:
10, 15, 17.5 and 20 are his guaranteed years = 62.5 Mil
Divided by 4 years = 15.625 Mil
plus 25% = 3.90 Mil
= 19.53 Mil is the total that his option years can be if it is for all option years.

Jeez, people whine and complain about contracts and players get returned? Seems ridiculous if you ask me.

I think we need to be confident of the team vs all option thing before making that move. I assume Corey did his due diligence on it though. I can't look right now. C has done a great job as commish and I trust whatever he decides.

Just looked to see what Gamboa was asking for now.

He said that Cincinnati had the best offer but he'd rather play for me. How far the mighty have fallen if a FA would rather play for Omaha over Cincy

Seemed pretty cut and dry. He didn't follow the rules and Webs even came on and admitted it was wrong and he made a mistake. I agree with returning them to FA. Agree with Reign let's clarify the differences in options, personally I say make it easy and say all options. Definitely seems to be a systematic glitch and players turn down the PO no matter how bad of a decision it is 99% of the time

It seems we have multiple ways that people are interpreting that rule.

I for one simply interpreted the rule being in place to avoid the big jumps in option years that we were seeing multiple people violate in the past on example contracts like this:

5/7/9/15TO/20TO

I for one never really offer player options unless they specifically ask for them as I prefer team control so I honestly never factored in the 25% and the other things as you can tell from my lack of math knowledge in interpreting it.

The pushing point for me was the contracts were illegal based on the rule, Web also was ok with renegotiating and putting them back, and I think we had a solid discussion on moving forward.

I will say I am updating the rule to say ALL options as it is easier for us to distinguish and I think it also addresses my concerns on the big jumps in option years as well.

I could be wrong but I think the first pass on the rule was 125% of the highest guaranteed year. But then we got into scaling contracts etc and to avoid it, we made it the average of all guaranteed years. It basically prevents 16 - 8 - 8 - 8 - 20 TO - 20 TO and the fact that the player would never see that 20 TO picked up. (probably extreme, but you get the idea)

Other than missing the word "greater" I think the rule is very cut and dry in what it obviously means.

I'm not sure what other ways it can be interpreted.

Specification to include ALL option type years player or team was what I heard as well to help clarify.

People could just use some common sense and quit trying to take advantage of the AI.
