Who's this guy?
50 years ago, Pete Maravich averaged 43.8 PPG his 1st season of varsity at LSU. He scored or assisted on 51.8 PPG and his offensive output has never been rivaled.

Until Trae Young.

Young is scoring or assisting on 52.6 PPG entering today.

Dude's a baller, he had 39 points and 14 assists today against #10 TCU

2018's version of Eddie House

I don't think I follow the House reference. Young is throwing up 30pts, 9 assists, and shooting 40% from 3. House was never in the ballpark in any of his 4 years.

it was more a joke.

House went on a crazy run his senior year when he was on sportscenter every night like Trae is.

Trae has a 39.8 usage currently... thats the highest usage ever by a college player that i can find for as long as usage rates have been tracked.

Got ya, I remembered a small flash of House, just nothing like Young has done consistently.

I haven't looked at the usage rates at all, but my gut instinct is that if you're giving me 30/9 and shooting 40% from downtown, while we're winning, go for it.

gives you very little wiggle room to make a mistake as a team. one bad night by him and they are done.

i've watched a few of his bad games (shitty luck timing wise by me) and he's been absolutely brutal with turnovers and launching ill advised 3's. to be fair i haven't seen many of his monster nights live.

I've only seen parts of 3 games myself. But I think it's relative to the talent on the rest of the team as well. Now that football season is over, we get into this nice little window where I can catch a few more games. I watched some of UNC-Duke while I was playing Madden last night. Having 2 kids now and a variety activities definitely locks down a lot of things. UC is having their best year since the Kenyon Martin days and I haven't been a 1 game yet. Normally I'd have seen a few by now. Instead my Friday nights are tumbling, gymnastics, trying to find time to squeeze in dinner.

With kids and being soooooo busy, college hoops is one thing I completely gave up on. I used to watch it more than any other sport, and now before March Madness I watch 0.

I'm trying to figure out if it's just because I gave up on it that it seems less popular or if it's actually less popular. Feels like Duke-UNC used to be a massive deal the day of and the day after. And granted I'm only going by the website, but on ESPN.com you'd barely know they even played last night by going to the website yesterday and today.

One and dones have hurt the college game. I'm just glad (not really) Creighton and Nebraska never get those high recruits and have to worry weather they are staying for more than a year or not.

Might be an eye test thing but the product on the court after watching more NBA is unwatchable in comparison for me.

Formerly I would watch more college hoops than NBA so the disparity might not have been as bad but now its been switched and its tough to get through.

It's almost two different sports the way the game is played at the college level and the NBA. I enjoy the college game a lot. Really enjoy watching the teams that their players stay for all 4 years. Those are the teams that can upset the big schools in the dance.

I have started watching the NBA again and it's more enjoyable than I thought it was going to be.
