Patrick Mccaw, 3 years in the NBA. 3 titles.

Not too shabby.

Not the best deal I hoped for, but solid. I'll take it.

What else you want? Lol. 3 players and 3 firsts for a player who didn’t want to be there?

What else could you want?

You now have 1 and 4 in this draft plus 2 more future 1’s. Griff will turn the Shellicans around quickly with that haul.

Yeah, I thought it was a really good haul. I still think Lonzo can be an all-star and hopefully Lavar will not annoy the shit out of everyone. Ingram is his health is good is still a really good prospect too. Well done by Griff I'd say

It’s a good trade for both teams, only real loser is Danny Ainge who continually blows his haul of assets he’s had and continually kicks can down road with nothing to show for it

As for those pelicans picks they got from LA, this years is clearly a huge asset but those future ones are likely to be end of 1st type picks. Ingram has upside for sure, Ball I just dont see it and Hart is a role player. It’s a good deal but I always want the best player. I’d rather have AD than that group of guys but it works for what the situation provided

Tatum and Beal were the other main talks, that's what I wanted and likely would have been better than what we got.

But as more comes out, we got a monster haul if true.

We supposedly control the Lakers draft for the next 7 years. That wasn't originally reported.

cant wait for the 30 for 30 in like 10 yrs where we find out LBJ was running the NBA behind closed doors and had Griffin put into the position he is at NO to have AD traded to LA for the betterment of Lebrons career + Lakers franchise + NBA/TV Numbers.

That certainly helps the value quite a bit.

So who ends up being the 3rd big piece (FA) in LA? Kemba?

Don’t think that would be a smart play... you need it to be a guy who can be elite playing off the ball and defensively. Adding another high usage player who isn’t a great defender like Kemba wouldn’t be smart imo.

Lakers need to be adding shooting and versatile defenders or elite 1 category type guys who can defend (elite rebounder who can defend, elite passer who can defend, etc)

Anyone who needs the ball to show their value should be a 6th man type option like a Jamal Crawford type not a 3rd starter.

You said a lot of types, but not names. Who (that is a free agent) would you get?

Looking at free agents list these would be my targets if I was GM and i’d hope to land 2 or more of these guys than spend it all on 1 guy like Kemba or Butler

Marc Gasol/Horford/Deandre Jordan/Val/Dedmon

Redick/Danny Green/Beverly/Ross/Collison/Rondo/Ellington

Malcolm Brogdon/Aminu/Ariza/Matthews

The main priorities are to establish space, guys need to shoot and they need to defend. In order of priority, i’d be hoping for

1) another big who can compliment w Davis and that is a capable passer/has some ability to stretch
2) corner 3 and D wing
3) lock down defender pg
4) pure shooters

I honestly have no clue what these guys will command or want in free agency and some have player options so they might not even be free agents.

Something like Dedmon (preferably Jordan if he comes cheap), Ariza, Collison and then a prolific scorer to be a 6th man (Ross) would be my line of thought. Then you assume you can snag a good vet ring chasing to fill out the roster

That gives you something along the lines of:

Guards - Collison, Rondo, Ross, Wayne Ellington
Forwards - Lebron, Kuzma, Ariza
Bigs - Davis, Jordan
Wildcard - vet ring chaser at minimum plus late season buy outs who sign for vet min

Windy whispering sweet nothings in my ear!
Justin Russo @FlyByKnite 15 minutes ago

Brian Windhorst: "What they gave up for him is potentially scandalous. It's an unbelievable haul they gave. ... It is the Nets-Celtics trade Part 2."

Windhorst called it "one of the most lopsided trades" in league history when it comes to draft pick compensation.

Windhorst said the Lakers gave Pelicans control of their picks for the "next 5 to 7 years."

Brian Windhorst: "It was the best possible deal I think the Pelicans could squeeze out of the Lakers."

Brian Windhorst: "From what I understand is the details, there's more than just the draft picks. I can't say right now."

Brian Windhorst: "Just know that this was an incredible haul that they had to give up from a draft standpoint."

This appears to be the draft pick details on the trade:
The Pelicans will get the following picks from the Lakers, league sources tell ESPN:

No. 4 pick in 2019
Top-8 protected in 2021, becomes unprotected in ‘22
Unprotected swap in ‘23
Unprotected first in ‘24
Unprotected swap in ‘25
