Yea, I understand. I was just pointing out with Cough's hypothetical, if you truly were on vacation, you should have let someone know. That obviously wasn't the case, i was just responding to Coug's holiday trip possibility.

It is over, I admitted that ultimately it is my responsibility.

I love Rule 5 time. Someone always screws up or gets screwed over

I learned a lesson that no matter what time of season, include instructions for the commissioner to put the guy on your active roster. Just sucks it was the offseason, so I didn't think anything of it. Thought he would just be there for me to work on today.
Being a ML roster player, I wasn't thinking about it.

This is what would have screwed me. I would have assumed he wasn't able to be grabbed since he was a MLB player

If any long timers want to take a trip down memory lane, this happened to me back in the day, or a similar version. Check out Armando Ledesma on the game.

In our inaugural season 2010 he had a 6 WAR, hit .352, led the league in hits, hit 35 HRs, was just a stud. In 2011 he had a season ending injury, only playing 52 games. Being so new to it all, I forgot about him on my 60 day DL(removes him from the 40 man, and he was eligible in Rule 5, and that snake Seeit took him!!!

Wasn't Rule 5. It was the expansion draft. I was brand new. Not exactly a snakey move...

I had the same thing happen.

Made a trade with Peay for a guy. Didn't get to download due to travelling all day and shitty hotel wifi to realize that the guy I traded for needed to be protected. Lost a top guy to Rob.

Could I have possibly thought he may need to be protected? Yes. But I didn't. Never crossed my mind. I made all my Rule 5 protections early, like I always do. Didnt' even think about the traded guy needing it.

Had I been at home, and not in airports and hotels with bad wifi, I would have absolutely caught it. Sucks. Basically traded someone for nothing, and by best avenue would be to trade an additional player to get him back.

I'm sure it will eventually even itself out, as just about everyone has their own rule 5 story now it seems.

And like JD said, it is ultimately my fault. I'm fine with that.

It just sucks because it's something that clearly would not have happened in the course of normal circumstances. It's hard to know to watch for a problem that you don't even know you have. Plus, if I asked Corey to watch my team every time I was out of touch for a day and a half so nothing bad happened, he'd have a full time job.

Just unfortunate timing for Rule 5 to fall on a holiday weekend. Not much we can do about it, just bad timing.

Since Corey took over and we had so many Rule 5 issues, it's been pretty clear for a few seasons now that we won't fix things like this.

1.everyone is saying it has happened in the past
2.everyone is saying the days of it getting fixed are over

For the record, I'm impartial to the whole thing. I would be all for getting JD his guys back but like it was stated earlier, explain how the team who loses the picked guys gets compensated. Corey literally gave 5 warnings of rule 5 approaching. Someone left in DFA could happen to anyone as well as Shels scenario of someone being left on the 60 day DL. But time and time again, we say that as the ones in charge of the team we are responsible. Hopefully they can reach a gentleman's agreement and we move on

Referencing stuff prior to 2038 is pretty meaningless

I lost Morgan Moore in rule 5 cause of DL issue before and it was never corrected, since then I have always assumed everyone in pool is fair game
