I like the 20 inch R/T stocks like these but I have zero interest in paying that much for wheels at the moment and didnt know the plasti dip comes in gloss for black rims. I dont like the look of the gun metal on the black for my car but those will look sweet on yours
Plasti dip seems like an economical option for new wheels at the moment but dont want it to look cheap either

Thinking of doing the Charger wheels that glossy black they have and possibly the grille.
The wheels seem easy enough but the grille may be a pain in the ass.
The glossy looks pretty sweet.
No I didn't do my wheels. Still considering it though. The grills on Chargers aren't too bad really. You need to take off the front end to get the grill out. The front end itself is only held on by like 4 bolts and then there are 10-12 screws on the plastic skid pad. It is easier to do if you have someone helping you but you can do it by yourself. Go to a Charger forum and someone will have a write-up on how to do it.

Thats where I am getting these ideas.
Some of the new glossifier plasti dip rims look like the ones I posted above with quality, very impressive.
I currently have wheel skins that the dealer put on that are chrome that look nice but always liked the blacked out look on the cars and considering doing this on anything that is chrome on the car.
I just dont want it to look like one of those rice burner, fast and furious cheap modded cars.

We recently bought a used Fusion, and the wheels have some curb rash on them. I was considering just replacing the wheels, but after seeing that video of the plasti dip I may just go that route for a quick/cheap fix.
Any idea on how durable it is or how youre supposed to treat/clean it?

The guy claims it lasts as long as you want it and runs it through multiple car washes and can last 2-3 years on one application.
You may run into some issues when tire changes or remounting them but you can touch up.
They sell kits on their site and the one I want for the glossy look is about $60 and thats 4 cans of the PD and then 3 of the glossifier for all 4 tires. And bags to cover your breaks and all of that if you want to apply while on the car like in the video.
You run it through a car wash like any other cleaning and no issues at all. He has a demonstration video of pressure washing a car that was dipped even up close and nothing happened to it.
Here is one that looks awesome and is pushing me close to trying it:

If I were to do It I'd take my wheels off the car and do it that way. Of course I need to repaint my brake calipers anyway so why not kill 2 birds with one stone.

I saw guys use index cards and playing cards to block it getting on the wheels when you take it off to be easy.
But this is a pain to take the wheels off and he didnt take them off the audi and it looks great.

This is what I am looking at Weas:
https://www.dipyourcar.com/product.php? ... =21&page=1
But also adding in the pre dip spray and masking bags for the calipers and brakes. I am sure i could use garbage bags but this is all in one.
Thats for the glossy look. The matte finish is only $26 or so for the package as you dont need the glossifier.

My challenger is the blacktop with these wheels, I just changed out the lugs to black from the stock silver looks good.

Yup I looked at that exact page. Apparently hardware stores sell the stuff for $5-8/can, might run up there and try it on a wheel to see how it looks and go from there.
Any idea what the 'pre-dip' spray is?

$50 for a floor jack and you can have your car jacked up and 2 wheels off at one time. It will take a lot less time than trying to cover up all the spots behind the spokes of your wheels and you'll have the peace of mind that you don't get any of the plasti-dip on the rotors. Believe me it is a lot less hassle than trying to do it the "easy way".

ive read its just like a cleaning spray to prep before beginning.
You going matte finish or glossy? they only sell the matte at the hardware places ive read.
O, how is it going to get on the rotor if the brakes and everything else is covered in plastic?

A few things..
1.) Definitely do it with the wheels off. You're going to want to move the car if you try to do it with them on, to avoid puddles and keep it even and get everything.
2.) 8.50 per can at the local Lowes. 4 cans should get you 5 layers on 4 wheels. Plus you'll want to by the Glossifier, which I haven't looked for.
3.) Bags = trash bags if you're going it on the car.
4.) Index cards are a nifty idea, but because it's so easy to peel it off, you might as well just intentionally over spray the rims, onto the tires and peel if off. Less hassle when you're done and it doesn't hurt anything.
5.) For your chrome pieces, if you have them around your windows and such like I do... don't try to dip them. Just grab blackout tape. It's super thin, barely noticeable.
I've read a lot of the same stuff. If you go with 4-5 coats, then you basically have to get a cut/tear to have any issues. (or curb it) Obviously you wouldn't want to use a brush cleaner with a lot of pressure, but high powered rinses work fine.
Good call by Oracle... take off the wheels, repaint the brakes while you're at it. (not with plasti, lol)
