Tons of smoke on Kawhi to LA.
That Reddit dude has gotten a lot of shit right, but missed on stuff too. He was doxed today as Jeanie Buss's nephew or something, he deleted his Twitter account.
Couple other semi credible tweets stating Kawhi is heavily leaning towards the Lakers.

If he goes to the Lakers I will openly root for career ending basketball injuries to AD, Lebron and Kawhi. Nothing debilitating to them, just basketball career ending.shel311 wrote:Tons of smoke on Kawhi to LA.

Did you also hate Magic, Kareem and Worthy? Mike, Scottie and Rodman? McHale, Parrish and Bird?

Magic and Worthy were both drafted by the LakersReignOnU wrote:Did you also hate Magic, Kareem and Worthy? Mike, Scottie and Rodman? McHale, Parrish and Bird?
Scottie Pippen was traded weeks after being drafted, Mike was drafted
Bird and McHale were both drafted by the Celtics
Those weren't player created "super teams"

Re: NBA Thread
DeMarcus Cousins turned down 2 years $40mil from the Pelicans, then claimed they never made an offer to him on his way out.
He took 1 year, $5mil with Golden State. Now Woj is tweeting that there is no market for Cousins right now, he may not even net the MLE, which I think is $9mil.
I assume the Knicks will give him 4 years.

Mid-level Exception.
Teams that are over the cap already can sign player(s) year to the mid-level exception. For this coming season it's $9.25mil. So they can sign any player to a multi year deal, and that's the max he can be paid. They can also sign multiple guys using the MLE, adding up to the $9.25mil amount.

Re: NBA Thread
so a team only gets 9.25m? so if they were to sign 9 guys they would all get 1M? (theoretically speaking, to get my simple mind around this)shel311 wrote:Mid-level Exception.

The original post was essentially saying teams at this time aren't willing to give Boogie $9mil a year.

Re: NBA Thread
Based on the fact the Knicks were only signing guys to contracts with 1 year guaranteed (other than Randle getting 2 guaranteed) I doubt they'll suddenly give Cousins 4 years.
Reports on his recovery from the Achilles injury (Durant preview) have said he couldn't run up and down the floor without significant pain during the playoffs. The fact he played was viewed somewhat as miraculous. He's likely to be much better in terms of that by the start of next season and while he may be an older player, it would be shocking if no one would commit (edit) part of their MLE to him on a 1 year deal (with a 2nd year team option) - though I'd imagine he'd want a mutual option for the second season so if he truly plays like he is recovered and better he can get out to get a bigger deal.

No big man has ever recovered from an achillies injury. Why do ppl think Durant suddenly will?

Re: NBA Thread
Not at all miraculous. He came back on the normal timeframe of a comeback for that type of injury.dakshdar wrote:The fact he played was viewed somewhat as miraculous.
For big men, i think he came back right around the same amount of time as Anderson Varejao did.
I'm sure he'll get better from a health perspective but I'm not sure we'll ever see him get back to peak Boogie.
I was just mainly pointing out that he will have cost himself probably in the range of $25-30mil over these 2 seasons.
Re: NBA Thread
I was mistaken on which injury - the torn (partial) quad and the fact that he even came back in the playoffs at all.
His regular season number (per 36 minutes) were very much in line with his previous seasons and his career averages for the 30 games he played before the quad injury.
7 years in SAC: 23.8/12.1
2 years in NO: 25.3/12.9
1 year in GS: 22.8/11.5
For coming off the injury and only playing 30 games, that's pretty statistically similar for his career (again, per 36 minutes since he was playing less time in GS with their rotation).

Vet minimum, doesn't effect how much they can offer Kawhi.nick wrote:Free agent Jared Dudley has agreed to a one-year, $2.6M deal with the Los Angeles Lakers, agent Mark Bartelstein of @PrioritySports tells ESPN.

Boogie Cousins fired and hired a new agent today.
