A few weeks ago, I said there was no shot of a rematch.

But it certainly seems like the tide has changed on that thought. See what i did there?

It doesn't fit your entire criteria, but 2003 Oklahoma is the closest you can get.

I may not have every last detail correct, but basically they were #1. They lost, #2 won, #3 won. OU fell to #3 in the human polls, but stayed #1 in the computer polls, and the difference was enough to keep them at #1 in the BCS despite losing, while LSU and USC won.

It wasn't a lost to the actual #3 team, but that's as close as you will get. And it does show that you can lose and stay ranked #1 due to the computer polls.

“When the (BCS) standings first came out and I had a look at the actual rankings in the computers, I didn’t have the same perspective I had once the computers posted their rankings on their respective sites and you see the point gaps between the teams.

“My belief is that after a loss to Arkansas, LSU would still be two to three spots ahead of Arkansas in most of the computers. So in terms of the SEC championship game, you think LSU’s chances are good?

“I expect LSU to go to the SEC Championship Game win or lose — obviously win — unless Alabama loses. It’s hard for me to see LSU losing a three-way tie to Arkansas.”

And, using your logic, it's ok for EVERY other team to lose a game and play for a title except for LSU? I don't get it.
