I had to google while I was at lunch to see it. I heard them talking about it on my way into work this morning. The description on the radio was better than the actual video. Not saying it wasn't great, I think it just got overhyped and I was let down when I actually saw it.

A few people told me the same thing and i could not disagree more. Now obviously I am being biased as Rizzo and Bryant are my two fav players in the game, however, to jump on a tarp in spikes hold your balance, fall two rows into the stands and snag it and have the presence of mind to hold the runner is pretty awesome to me.ReignOnU wrote:packsyd2284 wrote:Rizzo's catch was pretty sexy last night.

I guarantee no one in the NDL could do it!!

Donaldson catch was even better than Jeters, no denying that.nick wrote:jump on a tarp in a baseball game? oh man, that would be impossible to do.

Nick I would love to see you even attempt to jump onto anything.

You can tell he's trying really hard to not show how bad that hurt.DRiccio21 wrote:no reason to do that in a regular season game.

Packsy... I went back and watched a video just now... all I saw earlier was the part up until he went into the stands. This one showed the landing on the back of the chair and throwing the ball back in. Definitely impressive.
I initially envisioned it as him jumping on the tarp starting to go into the stands and using the back of the seat to stand up (1 foot on back of seat, 1 on wall/tarp) and make the catch, then throwing it in. That kind of blew my mind being able to find the back of a seat to stand on before catching it.

Yea it is a dope catch, to jump onto something and track the ball is difficult to do, unless you're nick.ReignOnU wrote:Packsy... Nick, the Jays may not lose again in the regular season but I still like the Royals pitching/BP in a 5 or 7 game series over the Jays.
EDIT: Outside of David Price the Jays starting pitching is not too hot, although Buehrle has been doing well in his last 8 starts I believe.

Re: 2015 MLB Thread
The whole argument of "you couldn't do that" is always going to be lost on me. Most of the best basketball, football and baseball/softball plays I've ever seen were done by people in local leagues. I'm sure a few of us have done some pretty ridiculous things in our lives from an athletic standpoint. In comparison to Rizzo's catch, I watched a pretty big RF track a foul ball, take 1 big jump onto a 4'-4.5' tall chain link fence, then jump off of the other side and catch a foul ball... it's hard to say who can do what, when and where.

Man, when I was 13/14/15 I could always make the crazy, acrobatic type diving catches and throwing off balance blah blah blah(I played 2B and SS)...but hit an average ground ball right to me, and I couldn't catch it to save my life, and if I did catch it, I'd probably make a bad throw.ReignOnU wrote: I'm sure a few of us have done some pretty ridiculous things in our lives from an athletic standpoint.
I remember playing in an 18 and under league with a handpicked team from our town of all 14 and 15 year olds in a pretty big game late in the season as we were still undefeated. I made 3 errors in the 1st inning on 3 completely routine groundballs. I was soooooooo scared to go into the huddle at the mound when our manager came out, i couldn't look our pitcher in the eye.

We did come back to win, no thanks to me as I got pulled from the game based on the aforementioned huddle

Re: 2015 MLB Thread
It's not really surprising at all. Like the guy I mentioned that made that catch. I have no idea who he was (random tournament on a forgettable team), but he was playing RF. Typically in softball, RF is a bum, or at least on the lower side of the ability ladder compared to others. But in that 1 moment, he used every bit of his ability and did something special. Just an ordinary dude doing an extraordinary thing.

Cubs are so good. Epstein + Maddon + that pool of prospects.
Re: 2015 MLB Thread
not sure if its been posted here but i think i read that the Blue Jays are the favorites in Vegas now to win the World Series.
could be wrong, but pretty sure i read that.
Cubs/Mets/Dodgers (any combo of those 3... sick of the Cardinals) and KC/Toronto (i'd love to see Springer and the Astros but they aren't ready yet) would be an awesome postseason

I rather see the Giants as I hate the Dodgers and I wanna see KC and Toronto play because they seem to have some bad blood.DRiccio21 wrote:not sure if its been posted here but i think i read that the Blue Jays are the favorites in Vegas now to win the World Series.

My cubbies are solid just worried that they are gonna play in the one game wild card and anything can happen there. I think the Mets have a real shot as their top three SP are horses and the Nats IMO are dead.
Why Springer Dave? Did he go to UCONN?
