list updated on front page.
AJ and i are running a 'mock online association' to see how it works and what issues we'd have/if any.
some cool things we've noticed:
-- drafts run very smooth.
-- salary cap makes it very realistic and makes drafting a lot more strategic. need to know how long a guys deal is for and how old he is,etc
-- you can edit the draft prospects for future years... i don't have the time to do the editing, but if someone wanted to run with that they could, if not we can just play with fake guys in the new draft.
-- you can scout upcoming draft targets
-- they keep track of everything... basically no work on our parts and we'll have full awards, full 'all nba teams, all defensive teams, all rookie teams, coaches of the year, etc'
-- they have advanced metrics for geeks like me. i can follow usage rates, rebounding rates, PER, etc. very cool.
-- you can practice with your team
the cool thing is that we don't need to play every game. games can be simmed. so even if the league seems to long, you can still set up your depth charts, your players minutes and let the computer run for you.
basically, if you've ever ran an offline league/association, its the same damn thing just with all the teams used by owners. i wish EA would put this into their products because its amazing.

also we can run with computer teams, so we don't need a full slate of guys.
the draft would need to be done in 1 night with everyone there. i'm pretty certain you can set up a draft 'short list' if you aren't able to make it on draft night.

So knowing my track record and your call obviously, I'm in. My craving for anything NBA has been very large this season.
The association has me sold and sounds awesome. I do hope we can get a couple seasons in and max it's potential but I'm getting way ahead of myself of lasting even one season
I'll buy it this weekend on amazon at that price listed above.
See ya on the hot seat Keggy!

I think I'm gonna grab it on Amazon today if it's really $34.99 or whatever.

Only issue is I guess guys would get pissed if you're ducking them or whatever and just wanna sim some games out, but personally, that's awesome to me.
I'm at 95% in right now.
DRiccio21 wrote:salary cap
Just curious here, when going forward into mulitple seasons, is the cap super simplified in terms of salaries? I'm guessing yes. But wondering if there's MLEs and resigning your own guys even if you go over the cap and all that good stuff. Overthinking I know, but that would be badass.

If we'll run 3 seasons, the cap is probably a cool feature. If we're just going to run 2, it might be a better idea to just turn it off. It'll make it easier for guys to get players that they like and make trades with each other.

Yea, it's all so awesome in theory, but getting past 2 seasons isn't likely unless they're really rapid fire.
I wonder what kind of interest I can garner for a sim only/GM style online association lol.

i've thought about that and i'd really like to do a hybrid. mostly just the GM stuff but having the options to play the games as well. fast paced and obviously let guys play the playoffs. it allows us to get more realistic # of games played (i despise 29 game seasons

) while we can still have the options to be involved doing all the stuff we needed to do without playing.
if we only have 8 guys that are interested in a league like that, then so be it. we can run with computer owners anyways.

The association, team management, and cap handling along many seasons is my draw.
I like realism and whole game seasons but also don't care to play that many games.
Love the hybrid thought to get through 3-4 seasons. Maybe designate games 1-10 as human controlled games, 11-40 CPU sims, and so on or something like that.
I have faith in Dave as you ran this league as well as if not better than the NDL itself (no offense buckeye

)
I have a illness for this shit. I get all giddy and tossing out ideas and, and then I hate Dave and the game all over again after I play And Reign doesnt help me shut off my LED lag and I suck.

That's what I like, definitely.
As long as guys understand playing most of your games isn't a requirement so there's no problem there, it could work.
But I think we also gotta be committed to making this go 3+ seasons, or like Reign said, there's no benefit to it. or the benefit doesn't outweigh just playing a ton of games.

The minute a guy hits 3 midrange jumpers in a row on Corey, all this interest...GONE!!
