The fact that it is certain games and not all games is pretty strange. I'm curious if there is a difference in ports that should be opened. No idea where to start looking though.

3 things I would try....shel311 wrote:I'm not saying if I'm doing both at the same time.ajalves wrote:far as OOTP, i would guess there is no way you should be downloading while on the PS3. I could see that causing a drop
I just mean, if my connection is prone to drop every 15 minutes or so(not PS3, just in general), then it certainly would have happened at some point when doing an OOTP update, but that's never happened. My updates go off without a hitch.
I was under the impression that if you DMZ, you don't need to open ports though, correct?ReignOnU wrote:The fact that it is certain games and not all games is pretty strange. I'm curious if there is a difference in ports that should be opened. No idea where to start looking though.
To be fair, not exactly sure of Shel's location.ajalves wrote:yeah, drive your PS3 5 hours to Dave's. Easier to drive it to Brownbear![]()

1. I can try that. I'm gonna have to write down all the stuff I need to try here, good info lol.brwnbear wrote:1. Move the modem/router to another location in the house. Try a few different spots. Just to test if it may be a problem with the line you are connected too. (this will test the lines inside your house)
2. Take your PS3 to Corey or Dave's house. Let them play on it for a weekend to see if they have any issues. (this will test to see if you have an issue with the PS3)
3. Tell Roadrunner that you need a new modem/router as it is not working. (this will test your router/modem)
Which would put me screwed since I've searched and searched, even had Nolie help me I think, and no one else offers high speed internet to my address.brwnbear wrote:If neither of the three are the problem, then you probably have an issue with the provider or the lines leading to your house. The only way to resolve is to find another internet provider
Are you wireless as well with your computer? I was getting great connection with my computer when it was plugged in to the router but if I was wireless I was having speed problems and connection issues if I was in another room. Is your modem a Ubee or a motorola? I have a Ubee and from what I've seen on the internet it's wireless is junk.shel311 wrote:See, my speeds in that test, I assume those are solid, right? Like I said, I have no speed issues and no internet drop issues at all on my computer. It's just the PS3.Shiftdnb wrote:I have a modem/router as well from time warner but the router in it sucks. I was having all kinds of connection problems and the speed was not anywhere near where they advertised. I had to basically trick it into being just a modem and use a separate router putting the timewarner one into bridge mode. I have the Ubee modem/router but there is a motorola one out there as well. If you google bridging and your router you should find a link explaining it as a lot of people are having issues with the routers.shel311 wrote: 3. If the answer is no, then you have a router issue. It could be a load issue. Try playing without a single other item using the router. Try playing the PS3 on wireless and wired. Tried both wired/router. Even upgraded to the best internet my provider has, Roadrunner Lightning. I have this all in one box that I guess acts as my modem, router, and even a home phone line hooks up to it. It looks pretty lol.
Was that speedtest what you got from your ps3?
The speedtest was from my computer. Haven't done it in a while, but I believe the speed tests on my PS3 were around 10-15 download and maybe 1-3 upload, which I think is good enough for gaming. I'll try it again when I get home today.
That would explain why only one provider offers internet. Maybe you should try dial-up. I think I have a unused earthlink CD i can send you.ajalves wrote:no one is!!!brwnbear wrote:To be fair, not exactly sure of Shel's location.ajalves wrote:yeah, drive your PS3 5 hours to Dave's. jk
We're breaking out all the options.ReignOnU wrote:New trick... disconnect and hide your computer, call out your technician and tell him all that you use the internet for is playing your PS3 and the thing won't get online! Then hold him hostage until he endlessly swaps out hardware to make it work!
Yea, everything is wireless.Shiftdnb wrote:Are you wireless as well with your computer? I did the DMZ, but don't nkow what static IP is?ReignOnU wrote:Actually, I think that tells us that it's not a PS3 issue at all. It's something in our setup or the line. Did you set the PS3 to have a static IP? Is your wireless secured? (someone leeching?) Do you have anything around the PS3 that could be causing an interference issue?
I think in that post about the DMZ instructions, it does the static IP, so I think I did that.ReignOnU wrote:Anything using electronic waves. Telephone, cell phones, microwave, other wireless computers... stuff like that.
Static IP means that every time the PS3 is online, it is set to the same IP address by the router. It doesn't change to any available IP anytime it is power on.
