Was just thinking that as well.
Yet they don't dump it back into the team or facilities in that shit hole.

Even with the success they've had, there's probably not a whole lot to "dump back"

Rip the roof off and it's a great location right on the bay.

Reds start the season with a series vs. Angels... very good chance that it also ends the season!

ruins pitchers. completely ruins Chapman imo. Dude was gonna be a horse starter, now hes back to being a closer cause it feels more comfortable. Thats fine, but oh wait you went out and grabbed Broxton to be your closer so now youre paying 8 mil to a setup man. Just a moron. Doesnt believe in pitch counts.

If broxton is their closer, they have no chance.
keep in mind i am not a baker defender. not at all. But he doesnt control who they bring in
the pitch count thing....pitch counts are highly over rated and should be used more like a guideline than a rule IMO

It wasn't Dusty's decision to make him a starter. Jocketty wanted to justify Chapman's contract and didn't feel like it was justified as a closer. Castellini, the owner, was caught between the 2. Some of the players (Homer Bailey for instance, have even commented on Chapman's contract) They gave it a shot, mostly because Jocketty has the bigger name badge. So they pushed to make him a starter. It was Jocketty's decision to pay Broxton to the be the closer this off-season, as Chapman's replacement. Dusty actually wanted to keep Chapman as the closer and leave Leake as the 5th starter. He believes it's the best chance to win right now. Also, Arroyo is in the final year of his deal and probably gone after this season, so they need Leake going forward. As for the burning up of the arms... I'm on the fence about it. Obviously Wood/Prior was a disaster, but I don't know how much of that is really on Baker. If he's really that bad, would Prior have signed a minor league deal with the Reds a month ago?

Wood and Prior both had "flawed" mechanics

he might have over used him some. No question. But Woods mechanics were terrible and left him prone to elbow/shoulders issues (he threw about 2 feet across his body)
