I don't think the game goes away. Other than rules enforcement, The NCAA has very little to do with FBS football anyway. Only reason they would need the NCAA would be to include the lower divisions, which they haven't done in years. I also don't think we are very far from a complete breakaway from the NCAA by the power conferences.

Almost as creative as the geniuses that came up with College Football Playoff.

They'll be a game next yr and we'll have Seasons 29/30.

Not one bit. It's 100% related to the O'Bannon case, and probably something their lawyers suggested they do. I don't think any experts out there blame them for doing their, O'Bannon and his lawyers basically forced this move by having EA sports testify in court about the case.

Our relationship with the Collegiate Licensing Company is strong and we are already working on a new game for next generation consoles which will launch next year and feature the college teams, leagues and all the innovation fans expect from EA SPORTS.

We took big creative strides with this year's college game and you’ll see much more in the future. We love college football and look forward to making more games for our fans."

I'm not sure how others are reading this... and I could be wrong... but the way I read it, is that the NCAA is pulling out of the video game market. That means NO ONE can make an NCAA. It's not like they're backing out of working with EA to partner elsewhere, they're backing out of licensing the games because it is too dangerous and expensive with the possible and actual litigation out there...
