Not saying you didn’t do a great job but Woods/Weber/Long are the base of the team. All are Montreal. Also McGuire Was some what Montreal he has a part in this story.

I know that's not the topic at hand, but I'll still say it, those that think Billy totally trade raped Montreal are still off their rocker

We counted it one day and I think it was something like 77 war combined for the 4 guys he got during the length of their contracts and I paid a ton of money too.... what a rape lol

I love Long but a closer is nowhere near “the base” or top 3 core of this team lol. Also McGuire was on 2 other teams between Montreal and Richmond so that is hardly on him. Also, McGuire still on the contract that he acquired him with so that would be 41.5 war plus whatever he does the rest of the year and 2 Cy Young’s just with McGuire.

Long given up maybe 7 runs in 2 years. For a team that blown late leads all the time in big games. I think you need to rethink that. What you did right was draft right when you were bad. We can talk about this all day but my friend when i think of Montreal i think Greeks. Nothing wrong about it. We all would have done it.

It was not the trade for me. It was Montreal going all in only to say 3 months later sell off. You dont give up guys like he did for a year and a half. You ride it out. We will see when and if Montreal gets good again after his rebuild.

It was not the trade for me. It was Montreal going all in only to say 3 months later sell off. You dont give up guys like he did for a year and a half. You ride it out. We will see when and if Montreal gets good again after his rebuild.

I've said this a million times but the only reason he turned in to that is his follow on moves. I talked him thru and explained financials thoroughly and why I retained so much money. After this he traded for Jim Gates who was a shell of himself at 18 per year, Wilson Perez who had already collapsed ratings wise for 23 a year. There were a couple more. If he did not do that it would have been a 5 year run or more and he would have had his budget over 180. Once you do that you can always retool on the fly. That trade was a great get but he is learning. I did the same thing the first time I made big trades like that. Ken is super active and I think will be a damn good owner but this trade was not a problem.

Sure you can keep prospects and maybe they pan out but if he kept losing for two years and had his budget down to 90 by then maybe Woods and Weber pan out as they did and he finds a way with that but there is no guarantee. Look at Youngstown. Having studs like Perez, Dan Page, and Kimble (not saying the latter two are as good as Weber or Woods) and a super low budget to address the rest is not a given.

There are plenty of ways to do this. For 95% of my time I would have made the same move he made and I contend a majority of my seasons.

2 of 3 is normally the goal for all of our series. For NE, its actually 3 of 3....but we settle for 2 of 3.

Here in PO we tell the press we 'take em one game at a time" ..but in reality we circle all of our NE series as they are must win games
