Tad of an over reaction I am thinking. Guy has done nothing but win and I am not a fan of the fella.
Fire anyone, make it the offensive coordinator.
A buyout of LSU coach Les Miles' contract is "a very good possibility," a high-ranking source involved in the decision told ESPN's Joe Schad. "In Louisiana, we expect national championships and we're not in it," the source said. Boosters have already agreed to pay the $15-20M needed to buy out Miles and his staff, the source said.

LSU is the old Miami. Careful what you wish for in a coaching change.

This makes me very nervous.
I am excited about the possibilities and ole Les's Iform/2 TE set is getting old, and we'll never get back on par with Bama with that offense.
But...since he took over, LSU has more wins than any other team in the SEC. And we've seen what happens to schools like Florida and USC when the Meyer's and Carroll's of the world left.
Most LSU fans will be happy, but they're not seeing both sides, if we get the wrong guy in, we could be setting ourselves back 5 years.
I believe we're 13-10 in SEC play the past 3 seasons, not good. I personally think Les deserved 1 more season.
I'm cautiously optimistic, that's about how I'd put it.

Also, the funny thing is...this was supposed to be a rebuilding year, we were picked 5th in just the SEC West preseason.
If our losses were spread out, I'm guessing Les would still be around. But the 7-0, 2nd ranked start changed all of the expectations and eventually did Les in, I'm thinking.

Here's what upset people close to LSU situation see/say: Gap w Alabama is widening; archaic offense; lack of skill development; fans restless; "Miles Fatigue;" program slide.
Here's what people outside the state of Louisiana see at LSU w Les Miles: 10 wins/year; 2 SEC titles; #1 in SEC wins since '05 entering season; seven 10-win seasons; 64 NFL Draft Choices
Sums up nicely what we have been saying here from an LSU fan and an outsider.

Fwiw, if I understand how buyouts work, he doesn't get both.
Let's just say he makes $5mil/year, if he gets a new job that's $4mil/year, the new school pays the $4mil and LSU pays him an extra $1mil, basically covering teh difference so he gets his full $15mil between the new school and LSU.
Or am I totally wrong?
Someone tell my boss I can't work with all of this going on right now!!! Good time for a lunchbreak!!

The rediscovered bromance is even stronger than the original.
Hopefully it contributes to both of you keeping the boards alive.

Sounds more like Nebraska than Miami. NCAA usually ran off Miami coaches.
Les is a good coach. However I have always wondered about his choices for asst coaches. Seemed he always gave jobs to people who were declining at other jobs prior to LSU (Chavis and Steele jump out immediately).

If Les get fired, I would like to see him at USC east. He would do very well in the SEC east. South Carolina has a good recruiting base there. He could compete decently.

Les is currently or just finished a press conference that was on ESPN2. He mentioned he'd be ready to coach this weekend. I highly doubt LSU woulda sent him out to say that if he's getting fired today.

I think that's if he LEAVES. Not if he gets fired. They have to buy him out of his deal (less money than he's set to make usually), then he'll get a nice contract

The information came from multiple sources, including Joe Schad
Boosters have already agreed to pay the $15 million to $20 million needed to buy out Miles and his staff, the source told ESPN.
Story originally said it would likely happen before the end of the day; however, it's since been amended. However, what is Miles going to do, but prepare for this weekend? He's still employed.
