Funny you mention that... he has publicly endorsed her... and Bernie Supporters aren't very happy about it on social media. #SelloutSanders is climbing up the Twitter ranks. In reality, I think he has to stick with her because that's how his ideas get pushed through. But a lot of people are calling him out for taking the $3m in contributions and snuggling up with her.
The DNC Convention should prove to be quite entertaining this week (well, the media around it anyway).
Dr. Jill Stein has publicly tweeted at Bernie... hinting that he should join the Green Party. A Sanders/Stein ticket has to be far more appealing for a lot of Dems right now.
The only thing I can rationalize is that the Democrats said to him if you don't support her they'll never allow him to run as a Democrat again and he knows he could never accomplish what he wants as an independent. I'm not sure by him supporting her his ideas gain any traction and like you said he certainly is alienating a lot of supporters who thought he would fight for what he believed in regardless of money and power influences

She's seemingly been calling fo him to join forces for quite some time now but I'm not sure that'd be enough. A Johnson / Sanders combo could certainly turn some heads but I'm not involved in this enough to know how closely their views align

I don't think Bernie cares anything about running as a Democrat for his Senate seat when he is up for reelection this was the only time he ran with a D beside his name so he doesnt need them for his seat. I'd say he has advanced his agenda farther then his wildest dreams. While he didnt get everything he wanted him running has brought forth a public option being pushed by Obama and Hillary to promise a constitutional amendment to overturn citizen united being two major policies he pushed among other things being added to platform. Everything he has gained now hinges on a the democrats taking back both houses in Congress and he knows that so he'll play nice until if/when they screw him over but for now they are saying what they need to say to keep him in line.
A 3rd party has zero chance of accomplishing anything in this presidential election so Bernie will not waste his time with the Green party or any other one. They will never accomplish anything until they get more serious than pushing some talking head out every 4 years. They should be running candidates for every level of government from dog catcher to president and until they gain a foothold from the bottom up we will continue to be stuck with this whole lesser of two evils bullshit we are stuck with now.

Sanders is apparently having a press conference right now and just getting crushed by his supporters, boos all over the place.
It kinda shows me that his entire premise is a sham, and if he had actually became president, he would have just bowed down and done whatever he was told to do, none of the zany, pretty out there ideas he had.

I'm not saying that in itself is the surprise, just that so many were on board with Bernie being the guy who would come in and radically change everything.
Hell I drank the Kool Aid very early on, then also realized early on that, nah he ain't doing all that.
Hell, if Gary Johnson were elected I don't think America would go through all these drastic changes as compared to Trump or Hilary, but I still want it because of how it would change the landscape of the 2 party system.
