Re: 2012-2013 College Hoops Thread
Payne coming back! Honestly thought he was going to leave, could have been a first rounder. Having Harris and now Payne back is pretty exciting
Re: 2012-2013 College Hoops Thread
indiana wont be what they were, osu looks to be not much better, none of the other big ten schools had huge recruiting classes. think msu is the team to beat and michigan will be 2nd. irvin and walton look like they will fill in nicely at pg sg, and if the 4 star pf is anything that will be a huge boost. but i dont think anyone matches up to payne at all, dudes a beast.Weasel wrote:Payne coming back! Agree with UM MSU assessment, really happy to not have to see Burke anymore. I'm still in denial about Stauskas, but the kid can shoot. Once Payne started hitting from outside he became a monster, he's always been able to dunk it with his dick thoughcdub21 wrote: indiana won't be what they were, osu looks to be not much better, none of the other big ten schools had huge recruiting classes. think msu is the team to beat and michigan will be 2nd. irvin and walton look like they will fill in nicely at pg sg, and if the 4 star pf is anything that will be a huge boost. but i dont think anyone matches up to payne at all, dudes a beast.

yeah when darius morris went pro...lol look at how great that decision was... everyone thought pg would be huge hole for michigan, then some 3 star freshman no one ever heard of took over, trey burke. i dont think walton will be burke but all the other pieces are there that they dont need him to be. he will have to be like yogi at indiana, just drive and distribute to all the scorers around him. cant wait for next season, fuck even football will be a crazy season, this time msu will be the ones reloadingWeasel wrote:Agree with UM MSU assessment, really happy to not have to see Burke anymore. I'm gonna enjoy seeing IU in the shitter next season. Crean is a douchebag.

I'm not a Crean fan at all, but you're just continuing to demonstrate your lack of basketball knowledge if you think IU will go in "the shitter". They wont win the Big Ten again and wont be a high tournament seed but they'll be far from "the shitter".
And when it comes to douchebag coaches and seasons in "the shitter", UK currently holds the title in that category.

1) I'm pretty sure a lot of the team left and their class is decent, but not the greatest; many of the early rankings coming out have them unranked or ranked near the back end of the top 20. IU had arguably the best team this year and still lost seven games.
2) I don't ever remember Cal yelling at someone on court and then turning and smirking at the camera like he'd pulled some kind of amazing coup.

Andrew Wiggins to Kansas. This kind of surprised me. I figured it would FSU or UK.

So did everyone else; turns out it came down to FSU and Kansas.
I knew he wouldn't choose FSU because they're doing the summer tour and he would feel left out; and when I found out last night he didn't want to take summer classes I had a feeling he wasn't coming here. Cal likes the players to enroll for summer so they can get time together bonding, playing pickup games, etc.
It's fine, just glad he didn't go to UNC. I think that Randle will end up being a better player, tbh.

Kevin Ollie landed a mcdonalds all american transfer from NC St (Rodney Purvis) and a 5 star in Daniel Hamilton (Jordan Hamilton brother) in his first month of his first full year of recruiting all while playing in a shitty conference and coming off a yr they didn't even play in the NCAA's.
in all of Calhouns yrs he landed around 10 McDonalds all americans. Ollie landed 2 in about a month.
fair to say he's going to be a monster recruiter. young, educated, rich, nba experience, good with parents and kids and clearly has a vested interest in UConn.
i was happy he got the job but needed to be sold on him and after seeing how hard they played last year, i'm pretty excited.

Wiggins is a terrific player, but I've been saying for weeks that I think Randle will be the better college player (left out that key word earlier, sorry). You can't go wrong with either kid. I just love Randle's strength, speed, and shooting combination. He can handle the ball extremely well for a big man.
I tell you what....the Champions Classic is going to be terrific this year--UK vs Michigan State in Chicago, and Kansas vs Dook. Should be a great night of hoops.

Re: 2012-2013 College Hoops Thread
So, the whole Mike Rice/Rutgers saga may be back in the news.
There is a report that the new person they hired as their AD had to quit as Tennessee's volleyball coaches years back because all of her players submitted a letter saying she "ruled through humiliation, fear, and abuse."
Oops.
