As long as he was on someone's 40man during the year he should be eligible. That rule is only there so you can't call prospects up in the last week (or hoard a good player in the minors all year) and have them play in the playoffs.GeorgesGoons wrote: ↑Fri Oct 29, 2021 12:20 pmDon't believe he is eligible for playoffs for your team since he wasn't on the team in the 1st.

Re: 2085 Season Thread... Sweet Home Chicago
Pretty sure that's not the case. I traded for Tim Terry (MLB guy) last season and couldn't use him in the playoffs because I screwed up and didn't have a roster spot for him on the 1st. He has to be on your roster for him to be eligible for the playoffs on your team.TheGobOne wrote: ↑Fri Oct 29, 2021 12:34 pmAs long as he was on someone's 40man during the year he should be eligible. Then what's the point waiver trades.....this makes no sense. Something to address in the offseason. Either way, MLB says you can make a petition to the commissioner's office to add a guy so I guess if that's the case Corey can petition me lol.

Otherwise I could collude with a sub .500 team (not A(L)east as they are all still fighting for the division) and get one of their best players just for a playoff run after the deadline.

I remember at one point we removed Playoff Rosters. I forgot why we brought them back.
Re: 2085 Season Thread... Sweet Home Chicago
When does he officially come off the books for us?
He would have barely been ready for round 2 so not much of a loss I suppose. He was pitching really well for us before the injury.

I believe it had something to do with Billy as the commish. He forgot to do something and playoff rosters weren't even an option for us.
Playoff rosters are a good thing. Keeps people from trying to collude behind the scenes. Not saying this is the case here at all.

Re: 2085 Season Thread... Sweet Home Chicago
I'm actually not sure about this. I would err on the side of you having to pay the rest of his contract but check it out at the end of the season and see.

Re: 2085 Season Thread... Sweet Home Chicago
I specifically asked if he would be playoff eligible before placing the claim.
If he isn't, I expect a refund

Re: 2085 Season Thread... Sweet Home Chicago
This is not true. Has to be his 40 man. The rule is there in every professional sports league so teams can’t unload guys or boost their team a week before the playoffs.TheGobOne wrote: ↑Fri Oct 29, 2021 12:34 pmAs long as he was on someone's 40man during the year he should be eligible. I love Corey but this one is cut and dry. He is not eligible

Let them get their slump out of the way now so they can start hitting come playoff time

Re: 2085 Season Thread... Sweet Home Chicago
Batters have been slumping all year- Valentine has been a little disappointing. Hector Sanchez is finally getting his shit together though

Glad I'm not the commish here.
That's a legit beef if the commish confirmed(not blaming commish at all) then he has a great point here.
But in fairness to me, I had opportunities to trade him just last night and retaining salary, and I turned down that trade specifically because I felt confident he'd be claimed and potentially available to that new team, so I think I have a legit beef in not taking him back either.
Glad I'm not commish

My export didn’t take which explains why that SP is on Prosper and Villy is still on my IL. Good times

Its an honest mistake and I dont blame Ryan at all.
As we can see here, the majority truly do not understand the playoff roster rules.
Yes I specifically asked but I could have done more research and ask others on my end, I didn't.
We will let it ride the way it is and its not the worst contract for a guy still performing very well for a pitching starved organization.
