Things that anger me:
If I send you an email at work asking for a response to a question, don't come down here to talk to me personally. I email you because I don't have time to talk to you personally.

Or the other way around.
Said person sends you an email and then instantly after sending walks to your office and says "did you see my email?"

Or texts you, and then sends you an email asking if you saw their text.

Moral of the story?
If someone asks you for a cigarette do anything humanly possible to give them one!

I keep my head on a swivel at all times when at gas stations. They just seem like the mecca of weird bastards that would randomly approach you with crap like this or asking for money.

Doing the Indy mini-marathon tomorrow morning. It's the largest mini in the country. They expect 35-40,000 participants tomorrow.
I'm kind of seriously considering doing a full marathon too. There's one in Indy in November that supposed to be a really good one for your first marathon.

I just ran in a Pat Tillman shadow run last Saturday. 4.2 miles. I got 5th in my division, running it in just over 34 min. That was enough for me. My legs hurt bad.

Re: Random Discussions
My goal this year is to finish in under two hours. Last year I did it in 2:09. I feel I'm much better prepared and in better shape this year. I did 12.6 miles last week in 1:52 and that was with a couple bathroom breaks in a much hillier area. I figure unless the crowd holds me up I should be able to get the 13.1 under two hours fairly easily.

Re: Random Discussions
you'll absolutely get under 2
my first one i trained and was like 1:20 thru the first 11 miles and the last 2.1 took me like 30 minutes and i finished like 1:50 or something like that. i had no experience and the adrenaline had me flying in the middle and i crashed the last 2 and almost passed out
my 2nd one i trained like half of what i did the first time but i knew more what to expect and i finished like 2:03 but i wasnt trained like i was for the first one. the last 2 miles i didn't fade at all tho.
the 3rd one i didn't train other than 1 weekend run per week and i finished 2:02. i just had a much better feeling of what it was going to be like and i just sucked it up thru the painful parts. it definitely hurt the most of the 3 but i finished better than the previous year.
so my point is that you'll be so much more aware of how your body needs to act this time around rather than last time. if you're running the same one, you'll know the course better too. that mattered alot to me.

i've never done a marathon. i can't imagine running a half then saying 'okay i gotta run another one'Weasel wrote:Marathons seem so miserable, considering Im a non-runner. Id like to try a 5k though
obviously people who've never run a half think the same thing, its just a matter of training. but a marathon is a big accomplishment in my eyes. amazing how older or sick or handicap people do it. or the guys who do gimmick running. like we had a guy dribbling two basketballs the entire marathon, we had a guy dressed in a tuxedo with a waiters tray and 2 drinks on it, we had a guy singing full sinatra the entire run. that shit is pretty cool but its wild how they can do it

Re: Random Discussions
There were four people dressed up as the Avengers running last year's Indy Mini. It wasn't the light costumes either. They were the big bulky ones with the fake muscles and stuff. The funniest outfit I saw was this guy who was probably in his early 50s wearing spandex shorts, a button up, short sleeve bowling shirt, and some kind of goofy hat. I don't think it was costume though. I think that's just what he wore to run.DRiccio21 wrote:i've never done a marathon. i can't imagine running a half then saying 'okay i gotta run another one'Weasel wrote:Marathons seem so miserable, considering Im a non-runner. When I run on a treadmill its usually a couple miles (3-6) at a time. In that regard the running isnt an issue, its more that Id like the experience of an event like that.LetsGoPeay wrote:Those are cake. My 11 year old son did a couple with me this year. Yeah, there's usually post-race food and entertainment at most places. A lot will have beer gardens and things like that too.Weasel wrote:When I run on a treadmill its usually a couple miles (3-6) at a time. 6 officers charged in this freddie gray death, some lesser charges, a couple of manslaughters, and one murder.
The one murder... supposedly the only black officer.
