Cowherd took some shit from the gaming community last week due to his comments on it. I'm not watching it, but I believe it's probably Heroes of the Dorm, which was a college tournament sponsored by Blizzard (makers of World of Warcraft). Blizzard is launching the game officially in June to go after League of Legends, which currently dominates the MOBA gaming market. The general idea is a team of 5 vs 5, using different preset characters, attempts to battle across a map and take out the other teams "base object."
I've never played League of Legends, but it's incredibly popular in the gaming community. I did download Heroes of the Storm beta and played through the entry level stuff. It's not really for me. But I can understand how it would be pretty damn fun to play in a team vs team environment.
I know all of this stuff is pretty foreign to most of the guys here, but playing team vs team stuff at a competitive level is pretty awesome. I was in the NDL during season 1 and 2, then left and didn't come back for about 3 years. While I was gone, I spent a good amount of my time playing competitive 10v10 PvP... insanely fun. About the only thing I could compare it to for most of the guys here is if there was a 5-10 man competitive CoD team or consistently 10-11 man FIFA team (and it had a real competitive structure to play in).

I watched it briefly. I was vastly confused and shut it off.
And I was listening to Cowherd when he was going off about them airing this last week.

Cowherd is a tool and can't believe people listen to his show.
But he is right as this shit is as much of a sport as the professional COD players.

I'd put eSports above Poker, as it relates to being an actual sport.Cnasty wrote:Cowherd is a tool and can't believe people listen to his show.

ya i was gonna comment about ESPN and shit having poker on. It's still competitive and watching kids play video games probably >>> golf, so.
Re: Random Discussions
As Corey said, why anybody cares what Cowherd thinks is beyond me. Remember, John Wall will never be a leader because he did a dance before his first game and he grew up without a father

I just finished a long paper and I'm bored... and typing happy... I'd like to argue that there is some level of advanced hand-eye coordination that makes eSports > Poker, as a sport. Your turn.DRiccio21 wrote:0 = 0ReignOnU wrote: I'd put eSports above Poker, as it relates to being an actual sport.

i'm just saying neither are sports therefore you can't debate which sport is better/worse.

Re: Random Discussions
Agreed. But then again, I think most sports are non-sports (which I think I've been over several times before).DRiccio21 wrote:i'm just saying neither are sports therefore you can't debate which sport is better/worse.

plural noun: sports
an activity involving physical exertion and skill in which an individual or team competes against another or others for entertainment.

Boring and too vague. By that definition, Top Chef on Food Network is a sport.Cnasty wrote:Technicalities and damn Webster and his dictionary:
