I've always wondered that as well, never understood it.

Depends on the situation. Sometimes they need to clear the puck.
Sometimes they are trying to kill a power play.
Sometimes they want to send it to the other side to perform a line change.
Those are a few I can think of.

If you're leading late and you're about to put yourself in a situation where you may turn the puck over due to pressure or a defensive trap, you are likely better off dumping the puck (assuming you're not icing it) and making yourself available to defend the next rush than turning it over and it leading to an odd-man situation for the other team. You can't just carry the puck everyone and skate around everyone, no one is good enough to do that. Usually, if you lose the puck (turnover) you're not in a position to defend the resulting offensive push for the other team.

anyone want to explain why?
What Joe said. There's also a "dump and chase" strategy in hockey, where you dump the puck into the zone (give it up) and then chase (skate) towards it with the intention of using your speed to get around the defenders rather than having to carry it through them. Speedy/strong teams will use this at times to get through the neutral zone better and to put pressure on the other team in their zone.

In a way, it's kind of like a through ball in soccer. Loose analogy, but one that you'll probably get.

puck possession is starting to become huge in the NHL. Analytical numbers, CORSI, Fenwick etc. The only time you dont wanna have the puck is a dump n chase when you flip it in and forecheck, and cycle the puck around, exhausting the D and opening up a hole to score.

Exactly. I would have probably tried to get the kid out of the way. I'd definitely have let these to numbskulls go at it though. You try to get between them and the next thing you know, you would be fighting off both of them and then, probably getting sued like the lady said. Fuck that. People like this deserve to be filmed and ridiculed on the internet.

The one bystander (lady) seemed like she was trying to stop the kid but then he came at her like a spider monkey and she says "ok go ahead and protect your momma" basically saying "don't come at me bro"

It was actually two women. One telling him to stop, then he looks like he's about to go apeshit on everyone and the other woman tells him he's right.

I appreciate the soccer mom's bravery, she was going after it, trying to land punches. Some may substitute bravery for stupidity, whatever works!

Is there anything funnier than a dog during and after a bath? My dog acts like she's being waterboarded during the bath and then as soon as she's done she sprints in circles around my living room.

My old house, I could do the bath poolside, then let them dry off on the patio.

New house, no pool. I learned the hard way the 1st time they got a bath with the hose in the back yard. The younger lab, once done, immediately ran the most dirt filled spot in the backyard and started rolling around in the dirt. FML!!!

Get a handheld showerhead and give them a warm bath in the tub in your house.
I would run around like an idiot too if you tried to bathe me with cold water out of the hose.

They love that cold water, at least mine do. But I'd struggle even to get them in teh tub as well, they're not having it.

The visuals of how Secretariat dominated in the Triple Crown always come back to this video for me.
Spoiler!

Isn't it crazy in 30,40 years this visual of all the people holding up their cell phones may be as foreign as the black and white visual of Secretariat on this historic day?
Spoiler!

Handheld showerhead required for bathing kids too. Too much effort otherwise. And you can't do the outdoor house thing with them when they're real little.
