Eh. It is more in the realm of stupid than hipster. It is a compressed audio file (mp3) and nothing more. It would be like calling any song that plays on your computer a "podcast."

So, you want me to say I listen to the LeBatard show on compressed mp3 audio file, as opposed to podcast?

I'll get right on that.

"I listened to the LeBatard show."

"I listened to the LeBatard webcast."

You sound like Paris Hilton when you say "podcast."

I am either the craziest fuck in the world or the only one making sense. I am too extreme to be in the middle. Either way, I am not sure if I even know anymore.

More seriously, language is a big thing for me. We have had a few politically-slanted threads lately and there has been a lot of apathy and "what can we do about it" comments. I firmly believe that since we lost our grip on language (one of the few bad things the Internet has brought us), we have lost command over our lives. Even things like saying "podcast" instead of "webcast" can be troublesome. Shit, we actually believe "spreading democracy" is not "war."

Edit: Let's see what my friends say as I will go screaming about this on Facebook. Excepting you guys, I've known most of my FB friends forever and they are used to me and either ignore me or start chiming in. Of course, I will threaten them.

I'm no expert on the subject, but your freind wiki says there is a difference between podcast and a webcast.

It seems that the main difference is that a webcast is generally considered to be live while a podcast is both. So, if I archive a webcast, it becomes a podcast. Either way, there is no functional difference between the two. Podcasts became popular because streaming shit is difficult and costly while recording an mp3 and uploading it is not.

It is the same thing.

I do, too. Half the time I don't really even believe what I am writing but the responses are too witty to pass up.

similar to putting car/locket/diary/house/safe keys on a carabeener (sp?) and rolling up one of the skinny pant legs and wearing winter hats in the summer
