In all honesty, that is stupidest reason I have ever heard. I coached an All-American Hurdler and he would go up to each person before his race and wish them good luck and after he would beat them by usually two or three hurdles, he would go back and say nice race. It wasn't somethng the coaching staff made him do, it was something he always did. Very modest.

Quest, I am with you. That is how we were brought up playing sports. And we were very competitive.
You play your heart out on the court/field...but afterwards, you respect your opponent!

I didn't grow up in today's society where everyone gets to play...fuck that. If you weren't good enough for a sport, you tried something else.
We beat other teams asses and we had our asses beat. But after every game, you shook the other teams hand or lined up and walked by each other giving a high five to your opponents saying good game.

For me, I take it as a pure respect thing. Nothing more, nothing less.


And packsy, I am not trying to argue with you. It is a difference of opinions. It is what it is.

We coached after you knock them to the ground, you help them back up. Sorry, trash talking has nothing to do with how good you are. We won the sportsmanship trophy in our area almost every year. Football we were average, but we won 12 percentage championships and 4 outright championships in track.

To me trash talking and poor sportsmanship goes hand in hand.

I would never imagine in ten trillion years teaching our kids to help their opponent up after they blasted them. This is football not golf.

Yeah, but football is also mental. After you make that hit, you help the guy up so he can see who you are. It gets them thinking the next time they come that way.

I hated everyone I ever played basketball against. It has nothing to do with sportsmanship. Its just being competitive. That's how I got myself in the frame of mind that I needed to play.

Exactly. I wanted to fucking kill people when I played and i threw the ball! I never have ever expected anyone to ever help me up/them up nor do I expect my players to ever help another player up. If they shit talk they get yanked off the field. (If they get flagged for it)

i'm not saying people should or shouldnt say good game. However, that was the original argument.

Saying good game to someone after you beat the shit out of them doenst make you less of a man or competitor or whatever.

The guy who got beat knows the other guy probably doesnt mean it anyway.

You've already beat someones ass, the point had been made.

I just was irritated the fact that someone would ding your score if you didn't say GG. A lot of the times I have to bounce after the game and don't even have time to get to my AIM. I leave it up and put stats in later. ask people who have been playing me for years I always talk to them after the game about the game, not the gameplay because I have fun with it.

I just don't see in the reports anywhere where this would fall under to dock someones score. Thats why I am glad you stated earlier in an announcement thread that you would start to look over coaches reports. I saw this as a time to throw a jab at niddler for it because you locked up the other thread that had the coaches reports complaints in them.

I apologize for bringing it up publicly for no good reason. Just will and can handle it privately. My bad.
