I believe in all my games Ive gave 1-3...What would warrent a 0,1, or 2. What Im asking is what is the purpose for a 0. I dont see the coaching reports, but how many 1 or 2's have you guys ever seen? To me a 1 or 2 should be looked into very stern.
Ive played some questionable game play (boarderline) but still no massive rule breakers here in the NDL and like I said Ill give them a 3..which would be average. But to hand out a 0 or 1 I dont know what the guy would have to do.

Based on my reading, I'm pretty much just going to modify the 0-5 system to fit. Hopefully I never have to give a 3 or lower.

0 - East Room
1 - Mostly East Room
2 - Shades of East Room
3 - Pretty lame, but with in the rules
4 - A few things that are questionable, but overall a good game.
5 - Good game, played straight.

Sorry for anyone that does an awesome job. You're just a 5.

I'm a softy...unless you are a total cheeseball, I will give all fives. There is something seriously flawed in your gameplay if I'm docking you. If the game was fun, that's all I need. If I felt like I was trying to counter glitches all game, you will be rated accordingly.

This is exactly the problem with the current system. There is no uniformity...by reigns ratings you can play within the rules and still get a 3...

Im more with you Terps...as the system stands you have to do something thats against the rules or very boarderline to get anything besides a 5 because I realize that all 4's is probation worthy.

Its messed up that everyone is not on the same page on this issue..IMO

how is it everyone will be on the same page? There is no rubric for grading other coaches gameplay. What some think is worth a 3 or 4, others might not, just the way its going to be.

What reign posted isnt MY scale for grading. And to be honest it wouldnt matter if we had a "scale" in the rules or whatever, because even if we did, every coach would not interpret it the same way.

For instance. I think "showing blitz" on defense 95% of the time is cheese ball.....you might be ok with it. 2 different interpretations, neither right neither wrong.

As we've said 1 million times before (give or take a hundered thousand)...we will NEVER have "everyone on the same page"

lets say for fun we changed it to exactly what you want..k, then you would be happy, but then you 50-60 AT LEAST guys who wont like your system.

Not being confrontational with you, I'm glad you are posting your opinion but im being practical and realistic.

The system provides flexibllity and the range needed to differintiate between needing to remove someone from the league, putting someone on probation, or just needing a conf commish to have an informal discussion with someone about gameplay.

1-3 certainly wont allow for that when the final scores are tallied. A 2.4 on a 1-3 scale is a WORLD of difference than a 4.0 on a 1-5 even though they both are percentage-wise 80%.

Also as Aj said...all 4's dont get you probabtion....all 4's and a THREE or 2 will....there's a big difference considering that scenario would probably NEVER happen and we're talking about averages.

As for uniformity...there are literally hundreds of issues that could be micromanaged. Creating a scale for everyone to go by is one of them.

If we were talking about 3,4,5 reports, then the impact of each of those across the entire final grade would warrant further management of HOW to score people. As it stands, you have 12 reports submitted. The at most 5-6 people who dont score (in what has been the generally discussed ad naseum practice of 5's for straight game then subtraction of points from that at the submitting coaches discretion based on his and his idea's about the game alone) in that fashion, does NOT have enough significance to warrant a management produced scale.

AND this gets back to exactly what I quoted you on, which is not everyone will agree..which is why it is up to the coach to score how he wants to score.

one last thing, when scoring someone, you cant look at any overall picture. you need to score that person based on what YOU think that person deserves.

You cant not give 4's because you think all 4's put them to close to probation. Thats why all 12 game reports are considered. Its an average. What may be good or bad to you wil lbe different for someone else.

The goal of the report is to identify when NUMEROUS people have issues with a given area or areas of a coaches gameplay.

by scoring as accurately as possibe...THIS is what we'll be achieving.

again though guys, bottom line is not everyone will ever agree on anything, but the systems we putting place (and why we'll be keeping the current system in place) is to try to take everyone's values/ideas and come up with something that is best for all 120 guys.

Sorry to the guys on the most opposite end of any decision as I know it seems the craziest to you.

Thanks everyone for the input

Anybody worried about being "bumped out" because of getting a three here or there, just put me on the schedule. I rate you backwards, lol. If you throw the ball deep more than once, you are almost assured a '5' offensively.

Kidding aside, for every one person who is really strict (gives you a three for following the rules but being a little off-kilter) there are guys like me that will give you a '5' if you run PA all game, no-huddle, etc. As long as you don't outright cheat or run the same goddamn three-yard drag (my '10 pet peeve) all game, you get a '5'. I promise you it balances out.

Those who have played me know that I turn the game into a circus. My coaching reports are usually very good to good and they'll be four comments; two complaining about the way I did this one thing or another and two applauding me on making the game fun.

I'm still here and - I am telling you - if there is ANYONE who pushes the limits of the rules, it is me. So long I don't break them, I expect to continue to be here.

I think the system is fine and the tweaks you are making are good. Simple fact is that no system of evaluation is perfect. The beauty is that you have 12 games to weight it out, so it's a pretty accurate reflection of your game play. However, I can see the argument with having 5 points, with so many differing opinions on how to use that scale. Regardless, our system, while not perfect, has worked well throughout the history of the league. There will always be disagreement on how to best utilize a grading system, no matter what we use.

My only gripe would be for the folks rating people below a 5 without explanation of why. If you are going to doc somebody, at least let them know what you had an issue with.
