Personally, I was hoping for them to pull it off. And no, I'm not a UK fan. Can't really say why I wanted to see them win it out, I just thought it would be cool to see a team go 40-0. Plus from the interviews I've seen from some of the players (ok, maybe exclude that one Harrison twin now ;) ) they seem like pretty good kids, good heads on their shoulders, etc.
i like Jason and don't mind his fandom, so it has nothing to do with that. (although i do enjoy laying into him at times).

i dislike Cal but more importantly think the team was a fraud. they were big enough to purely out man other teams but they weren't 'good' and when they played talented teams it showed. Wisconsin beats that Kentucky teams 6 or 7 out of 10 times. the thing that goes un talked about is that how hot Kentucky was. i didn't do the research on it, but they didn't miss mid range jumpers. that game could have been (and i thought it was going to be) 15+ pt win for Wisconsin.

Was there schedule strength that bad? No team has ever find 38-0, so I'd think their schedule had to be atrocious if they were no better than the elite teams this season.

Kenpom has them as having the 31st strongest schedule, but that's including the tourney run. I'm not sure what it was going into the tourney but I'd have to think it was slightly lower. The SEC sucked this year.

Jason fandom was the reason I wanted Kentucky to lose, not because I dislike them but b/c of how worked up he gets is hilarious. I generally don't care about any of his antics except when he uses "we" for multiple teams in the same competition.

My loathing of UK is well illustrated with how they responded to the loss. Plus I was getting down right ill of all the talking heads that were ready to crown them the best ever.

Not sure what it was ranked, but they did play Kansas, Texas, North Carolina, and Louisville in their OOC. SEC wise though, outside of LSU and Arkansas not really sure it would be considered a tough conference to navigate through.

not really speaking about SOS at all. there are about 5-10 good college teams, so they might have played a great schedule but it really doesn't matter if not against those teams that are physically capable of keeping up AND have skill.

i'm having a tough time putting my thoughts on Kentucky into words. they were REALLY freaking good, relatively speaking. because most teams blow or simply don't have the size to compete. so they are able to just roll them all with athleticism and size.

a team like Wisconsin is hands down better than Kentucky. it forces them to actually 'play basketball' which they aren't really that good at.

SEC was awful, but OOC was strong. As I said a few weeks ago and got hammered for it, and as Dave said, this team relied on their ability and size to simply wear teams down and played hard the last few min. Don't remember who said it but after loss Saturday, one of them even said "we are used to teams fading the last ten minutes and Wisconsin didn't do that". Late game offense usually relied on getting it into Towns, or a Harrison driving and getting to the basket or getting fouled. Fouls weren't being called very much in this game, so that tactic failed when Wisconsin denied the entry pass.

As Dave said, this was a top 50 (and I'd wager top 25 team) of all time. But the greatest, not even close. The 96 UK team would have destroyed these guys. The 2012 team would've beaten them by double digits. This teams size, athleticism, and depth made them unbeatable until they ran into a team whose big could shoot, and who had comparable size. And once we got the lead and the Harrisons started playing "slow it down and drive for a foul", they fucked us. Wisconsin was better composed, and while the refs were garbage, they stayed composed and our guys didn't. It was still a great season, disappointed in how it ended but these kids (minus Harrisons) were as classy as you'll ever find. KAT is one of the kindest human beings to ever play for us and I'll miss him, but no way he's staying.

They were the more prepared team Sat night and they executed down the stretch. Wisconsin deserved the win for those reasons. I hope Wisconsin wins tonight, won't shock me one bit to suddenly see FTT get called for the hip checks tonight early because Duke somehow always wins when they play in Indy (go figure).

Laughed about this

Wife is a UK fan and I actually made the comment to her during the last minutes of the Wisconsin game, "You know you're losing to 4 white boys right now, right?"

the game earlier in the year Duke beat Wisconsin by 10, Duke shot like 65% in the game.

i don't see that happening again. while i do think Duke can win the game, i'm going with Wisconsin 73-65

I dont think I had ever seen three straight shot clock violations like Kentucky had Saturday, goes back to the point of when slowing things down do more harm than good

Was kind of shocked to see that, after Saturday, Coach K is 9-1 vs Tom Izzo.

Fact. Unless you are in Salt Lake City watching in a crappy sports bar with ZERO talent around. At least the beer selection is decent.
