Billy, when do you get back?

I get back in January some time, maybe sooner, maybe later.

Who wants to head this one up? I would say this needs to be around a couple of nice courses, so I can hack the course up, and have a decent night life as well

shot a 87 today, my best round i've had so far. i still had 36 putts. i 2 putted every hole. if i could make an 8 footer i could have taken 5 or 6 strokes off easily

so much more fun when you feel capable of making shots

golf still sucks but i got a free set of clubs so i might try it out. Funny enough the few times I played I wasn't horrifying, but I can't putt for shit. I remember 1 Par 3 I hit it on the green 1 shot, and then finished the round with a 7.

Played 18 today and on a 546 yard par 5 I was 5 yards short of the green in 2..... Made a 7. Damn this game pisses me off

Kind of like my lucky shot where I made it in 2, 15-20 feet away and still get a bogey. You and Chuck thought it was funny though.....assholes!

Pretty impressive what Rory has done in September. I think he was telling the golf world about me. My best is still better than anyone's best.

Playing at Covered Bridge this weekend (Fuzzy's course), hoping I can break 100 lol. I got to play a few holes at Valhalla during our Jimmy V charity event last month. That course is beyond beautiful, and absolutely unforgiving.

Our "closest to the pin" challenge is a recreation of the Rory shot on the island. I put mine in the water haha

I'll be in Lexington this weekend playing a few courses..

Old Silo - Used to be one of the best in Kentucky, but I've heard it's went downhill since a change in ownership.
Kearney Hill - Top 10 Kentucky course according go Golf Digest; Semi-links design
Cherry Blossom - Has something like 10-15 awards from Golf Digest and Golfweek. Newer course (opened in early 2000s); Looks like it's a huge local favorite too, which is always a plus.
UK Big Blue and Wildcat - Both of the courses at the University Club get great reviews. They are distinct in their style/layout, so that should make a fun day.

i just got back from my annual UConn baseball boys weekend/golf tourney.

most of the guys there are between 6-15 handicaps... i started going like 3 years ago, i really had never played before that and shot 120's then and was like 35 handicap. after that i started playing more and 2 years ago i think i shot 115 last year i shot 105ish both days and this year i shot 108 first round (which was horrible for how i've been playing) and a 92 the second day. i was a 27 handicap so the 2nd round shot me up the leaderboard but day one crushed me. i had a 10,9,9 on a par 4 and 2 par 5's. we play strict rules, no improved lies, no tap ins, etc etc.

i'm definitely improving a lot which is nice, hoping next year i'm playing consistently in the 80's. i can chip pitch and putt as good as anyone there but i can't get off the tee box consistently enough and i lose a lot of balls with driver.

I feel your pain brother! I've shot everywhere between 91 and 105 this year. My biggest frustration is that I haven't had a consistent issue. At the end of the day, it's about eliminating penalty strokes for me. I played on Sunday and shot 105... my worst round of the year. It was also my best round driving the ball. This is going to sound nuts, but I put 5 drives over 286-303, then 1 drive 320... all of those safe and out of trouble. Only 1 shot off the tee box ended up in a penalty stroke. If I had done that in any other round, I'm in the mid 80s.

Unfortunately, something was way off with my irons. I haven't had an issue all year with them. I sprayed at least 6 shots off of the toe and OB and even when I made contact, I had a wicked hook. I've naturally formed a nice 5-10yd draw over the last 2 years, on my irons, but this was insane. On a 150ish par 3, I hooked my 9 iron about 40 yards left... it launched just left of the pin. I was so frustrated with it that I was ready to start hitting punch shots down the middle of the fairway with my 5i or hybrid, just so I could keep it in play.

I'm usually really good with self diagnosis on the course, but this one had me perplexed. I believe the issue was that I'm coming through too closed and tending to catch it on the toe. That can do both... cause the spray right if I'm catching it way outside and cause the serious hook if I'm getting an heavy inside-out swing and wrapping the club face around it. I can't think of any other issue that could cause these 2 things.

Hopefully it just goes away this weekend! :D

90min lunch including 2 hot dogs, diet dew and a bucket of range balls and I'm feeling much better now. Loosened my grip pressure a bit, good to go!

Soooooooo, since Reign's Madden league died before it started, FIFA never happened, and his retirement after an illustrious OOTP Commish career; is he still heading up the NDL:Golf Outing 2017 or have we lost faith in his planning capabilities?

:)

Wait... golf outing? Hmmm. :-)

IDK, taking over my annual outing has been annoying enough. You don't realize how big of a diva a 30-something year old man can be until you tell him that he has to sleep in a double bed at a hotel, versus a king size bed in a condo. I won't even get into arranging the travel, etc.

NDL would be a little different... we pick the courses and lodging... you figure out how the hell to get there.

How long until we do an NDL Disney trip that we just use as a front to play golf while our wives/kids go to the resort?

If we do an NDL golf trip I am 100 percent in. I would need a decent amount of notice due to the tricky nature of my job. Would be awesome to do though.
