Re: Pimp your ride thread
Installed a GT350 steering wheel and some Ford Racing hood struts to replace prop rod. Can't believe a 2015 Mustang still has a prop rod to hold up the hood.

The steering wheel is nice. Made with Alacantra and leather and has beefed up bolsters at 2 and 10.

Absolutely ridiculous and unnecessary... and I'd probably buy one as soon as it hit the market...

Which reminds me... my neighbor sold his G8 GT last week and rolled home in a Charger 392 Scat Pack, same color and similar rims to my old G8. The car is so awesome. Definitely makes me miss my G8.

I am curious what axles they are putting in there. It would have to be nothing less than a D60 to help with the torque that this engine would put out.ReignOnU wrote:Absolutely ridiculous and unnecessary... and I'd probably buy one as soon as it hit the market...

I think they messed up by not putting in coilovers. Just a concept I know. But an Evo double throw down or the Rock Krawler rock racer would be a sweet setup on thisReignOnU wrote:Yeah, Dana 60 and Fox shocks. 39.5" Krawler tires.

Test drove a Camaro 2SS. ls3 is nice. They've upgraded the interior and got rid of all the plastic shit Camaros are known for. Car is smaller than previous gen and is very nimble with a lot of power. Magnetic dampers, HUD, and selectable exhaust are nice. The controls for a/c and traction control are not in the best ergonomic position but not terrible. The temperature control is the outer ring of the center a/c vents. Which would be pretty cool if the vents were positioned higher. They are down low near the gear shift. It does have Apple play and a nice 8" screen for the stereo. 8 speed auto is nice but I'd get the 6 speed manual for the fun factor. You still can't see for shit. Rear window is small and you sit too low too see out of the sides. You definitely need to opt for the BLIS. Trunk opening is small so trying to fit any luggage or golf clubs in it will be a PITA.
The car is fun to drive and that motor is bad ass. 455hp & 455tq
It costs $7k more than a comparably equipped Mustang GT. If you are a Chevy guy you'd probably not mind paying for it. A Ford guy would sink the extra $7k into mods. Chevy did do a damn good job on the update though. I wouldn't mind driving one daily.

What's your stance on Tesla as a muscle car lover Oracle?
Re: Pimp your ride thread
How can you argue with ludicrous speed? I wouldn't mind having one as a DD, but I take too many long trips to have one as a singular vehicle. I also like the loud exhaust and rowing gears.

I love the growl of my RT Durango and will miss that but it is being passed down to my wife whenever the 3 comes but I agree. The speed and instant torque has to be pretty amazing.OracleHCR wrote:How can you argue with ludicrous speed? I was thinking of hitting the Tesla store here and test driving one and actually see the difference as many have said you barely use the brakes and the inside is so quiet with no engine noise its almost eerie.

Re: Pimp your ride thread
I ran my fairly stock G8 GT against my friend's Tesla P85 one night after we left volleyball. He took got the jump on me like no car I'd ever seen, but by 60mph I started crawling back and once we hit 80, I really started gaining ground... I caught him just over 100 at which point we both backed off. I've also drove his car quite and bit since then and can tell you that the feeling of taking off in a P85 is on par with launching an 10 second drag car, minus the front end lifting up. I'm not a huge fan of it on winding roads because it's so freaking heavy, but it definitely has it's moments of awesomeness. If all I did was city driving, the Tesla would bring the most enjoyment. You can't really go wrong with it at all, but on the highway, it's not a lot different than another other car with 350+ HP.

From a cabin noise perspective or are you stating from a speeding? I will say the ability to fly onto the on ramp and pass is definitely in favor of a Tesla would be my thought.ReignOnU wrote:You can't really go wrong with it at all, but on the highway, it's not a lot different than another other car with 350+ HP.

Speed standpoint. Noise is a completely different story.
The only real advantage the Tesla P85 has over a G8 GT, Chevy SS, Challenger SRT is below 40mph. I'd say around 40-60 it's pretty neutral and over 60, the muscle cars are going to stomp it. I don't know the science behind the Tesla's powerband, but with large V8s, most consumers will never get to see where the real power is. The passing power on the highway of V8 muscle car is a lot better. If you look at the 0-60 times, trap times and 1/4 times, you can kind of see this as well. A P85 is 0-60 in 4.2 seconds, but runs a 1/4 mile in 12.8. An SRT8 392 is 0-60 in 4.2 seconds, but runs the 1/4 mile in 12.6. It's that variance beyond 60 where a really good V8 stands out.
The other thing to consider, which I've talked with my friend about quite a bit, is the variance in performance. He said that at peak performance (basically what we ran at), it's awesome. But he can see a noticeable drop off based on the charge level. In the cars that I've mentioned in comparison, you're going to get that performance every time.

i drive in them quite a bit as i don't drive anymore and my boy's will pick me up in their's. the biggest difference is just the initial face ripper you get on even a normal acceleration.Cnasty wrote:I love the growl of my RT Durango and will miss that but it is being passed down to my wife whenever the 3 comes but I agree. only other time i experienced that was in a lambo and that was when the douchebag was trying to scare me by accelerating. in the Tesla you get that same 'woah' feeling.
the little bells and whistles like the huge screen and the maps and the music selection and all that crap is cool.
the lack of noise is so odd that i was in a parking lot with my boy after a Canes basketball game and i had my head down texting and i was like 'hey are we gonna go? i gotta get home' and i look up and we were already on the road.

I'd race one if he wanted to. From the dig he'd jump out ahead but I'd reel him in and it'd be close. From a rolling start I'd probably beat him pretty soundly. My car is scary fast from 60-120 and it pulls hard all the way up to the speed limiter at 140.
