Chalmers just drilled Hibbert in the head with the ball... legally... hilarious. That will make SC.

Flipped the game on with :36 left and saw Lebron had fouled out. For anyone that watched it, how did that come about? Bad calls or good Pacer game plan (or other)? Bummer I missed this one, I was playing with the boys.

#6 was awful, called an offensive foul on a screen.
That was one of the least enjoyable close, meaningful playoff games I've watched in quite a bit.
I rarely ever complain about officiating, but tonight was bad, real bad.

Was reserving my comments on officiating as I didn't want to be that losing fan but good god that game was painful to watch.
Just awful

I gave up officiating about 2-3 yrs ago. It's a thankless job. As a fan you say swallow the whistle, but as a ref, you have to do what's right consistently. The general rule of thumb that most refs (lower level admittedly) that I know use is basically answer the question "was an advantage gained?" If I clearly saw the foot on foot and the slide movement, I've got to call the foul. I'd hate doing it, but it is a foul and there was a clear advantage gained. Most refs don't enjoy making that call late in a game and would prefer not to.

It was awful both ways. How in the hell do three officials miss a ball clearly hitting the rim, discuss it, and still miss it? That cost the Pacers a basket and/or a possession. I'm all for officials allowing players to play and decide the game but in this series the reason thats happening is that the officials have lost control of the game. Most of the bad calls are because the refs are trying to regain control or just catch up.

If they were just letting them play, it would at least be consistent. It just feels like for 5 trips down the court, guys are getting away with any and everything down low with no fouls. Then the next 5 trips down the court, they call 8 fouls, some of which are headscratchers with minimal contact.
I've always at least kinda defended NBA refs from the perspective that it seems like the toughest game to officiate, and officiating rarely gets my attention or makes me enjoy a game any bit less than I normally do.
But last night's game seem to do the trick.

Basketball is ridiculously hard to officiate. At the lower levels, most games are done in 2 man teams, which when mixed with the talent level, makes it pretty brutal. Adding the 3rd person definitely helps with sight lines, but then the pace picks up even more, which adds in other elements. I got into it thinking it would be fun and a good way to get some exercise in on the side... then got a reality check when I did my first HS scrimmage between 2 city league teams.

Lines are blurred due to my Heat fandom.
Understandable how that one slipped past the goalie.

It's funny because Lebron and West both flopped on that play, but Lebron is just more skilled in the art of flopping, so he sold it wayyyyyy better than West did.

Nah, Haberstroh broke it down with metrics.
