Regular Season Underway
Re: Regular Season Underway
August has not been kind to Chicago. 9-12 and lost 6 of 7 last sim. Every single one by 2 runs or less.
Lead goes from 8 to 3.

Re: Regular Season Underway
man i have this A pitcher Ron Moss, 39/51 SP.. jumps to 62/68 if I change him to MR.. Hes def a BP guy with only 2 pitches
Re: Regular Season Underway
also Q, with roster expansion happening Sept 1st and Sept 1st being a tuesday, is it possible if this sim is simmed til Tuesday? So 1 extra game? So we can expand our ML rosters. If not we gotta lose 7 days of Sept before we can expand our rosters.
Re: Regular Season Underway
We had the discussion somewhere, at some point, but a pitcher with only 2 pitches will never be an effective high level SP.nick wrote:man i have this A pitcher Ron Moss, 39/51 SP.. jumps to 62/68 if I change him to MR.. Hes def a BP guy with only 2 pitches
And, I don't have a clue if they will "learn" a new pitch if you leave them set as a SP long enough (I don't think so).
Re: Regular Season Underway
oh hes definitely going to the bullpen for me. He's 12-7 in A ball, but at AA ball hes a setup man but my scout feels hes overmatched at AA. So I'm guessing next year he'll play a bit at AA and then ML, since my ML Bullpen is a joke.dakshdar wrote:We had the discussion somewhere, at some point, but a pitcher with only 2 pitches will never be an effective high level SP.nick wrote:man i have this A pitcher Ron Moss, 39/51 SP.. jumps to 62/68 if I change him to MR.. Supposedly, they can.dakshdar wrote:And, I don't have a clue if they will "learn" a new pitch if you leave them set as a SP long enough (I don't think so).
About Different Pitches
Pitchers in OOTP can throw an assortment of different pitches, displayed in the Player Profile. Just as with other pitching ratings, pitchers have a "current" and "potential" rating for each pitch. The number of pitches a pitcher can throw effectively has a strong impact on how he should be used in the game. Pitchers with few effective pitches are most likely relegated to the bullpen, while pitchers with 3 or more effective pitches have a good shot at sticking as a starter. Players may learn new pitches over time.
Re: Regular Season Underway
I'd love to see this actually happen. I have a very decent starter in R-Ball and he's pitched over 260 innings the last two season. He has two pitches rated above 60, but no third pitch. I figure if he hasn't learned a new pitch in three years, it isn't happening.shel311 wrote:Supposedly, they can.dakshdar wrote:And, I don't have a clue if they will "learn" a new pitch if you leave them set as a SP long enough (I don't think so).

I never paid much attention to how many pitches any of my really young SPs have. I'll try and keep tabs on it.

Re: Regular Season Underway
Do all the minor league squads use the DH as well?
Re: Regular Season Underway
my guess would be ya, since the AL and PL and both DH leagues, makes no sense for a pitcher to ever bat in the minorsshel311 wrote:Do all the minor league squads use the DH as well?
Re: Regular Season Underway
All this talk about Hays. I think Paul Bishop is just as good, if not better than Hays.
Bishop leads the league in strikeouts (184) and is 16-4 this season. Bishop (24) also is two years younger than Hays (26).
I locked up Bishop early for a 3-year/$7 mil contract (he wouldn't sign anything longer). I took him in the 33rd round of the inaugural draft as a reliever. So, I consider him a steal.

I've noticed only one of my SP's in the minors to add a third pitch, William Morris. When he was drafted he had 2 pitches, he has added a change-up...not a very highly rated change-up, but I noticed it has increased gradually, I think its up to 21 now, but I remember seeing that it was at 13, then 17, now 21..and before his suggested role in the ML was a reliever, now it says he's a borderline starter.dakshdar wrote:I'd love to see this actually happen. Re: Regular Season Underway
So, the dude leading the OOTP in RBI, never heard of him, but I waived him last season.
Gee, I wonder why my team is tanking.
I'm guessing my managers had to do that one, I highly doubt I'd waive a guy with 47 HRs and 122 RBI in AAA last season lol.
WTF!
