one thing I dont think some people realize is the top half of the 1st round is protected, so if you sign a Type A, you lose a 2nd rounder, not a 1st.

Whittness10 wrote:Since we are talking about Type A, I have a situation that I was pretty curious about. Ok, so Morrissey was signed (Hartford I believe) and he was a Type A. I get Hartfords first round pick (Not in top 15) and I get a pick in the supplemental round. Then I go out and sign that closer, that i'm pretty sure was a Type A guy (from Omaha I think). My question is which 1st round pick Omaha gets. Does Omaha get my original 1st round pick or the pick that I would receive from Hartford? Didn't know if it went with highest pick, which would be the pick I received from Hartford, or if it just went off of my teams original picks.
We had this issue last season with Reign and I. I think the way it is supposed to go is he would get your actual pick based on where you finished in the standings.

But in the instance of Last season, Corey signed a Type A guy from my team, nad Corey was supposed to pick 17th. I picked 24th, and I signed a type A from Reign's team. I thought I would get 17 and Reign would get 24. But Reign cheated and got 17 while I got 24. :)
So what your saying, is that since Reign isn't involved here I should be picking in Hartfords spot and Omaha will have a pick in my spot?? got it

Best guess... computer logic takes the 'best available' pick. So if you got Omaha's pick before you signed the Type, you're probably losing Omaha's pick. If you signed the type A before hand, you likely lost your pick.

Exactly. one you aquire a type A 1st rounder, then its your pick. so just like shels case. it was no longer someone elses pick and not in the top 15 so thats what you lose.

I'm drawing a blank here. Reign, who did I sign from you that was type A? I never really realized that my team is littered with former Commandos, and I can't figure out which one it was off the top of my head lol.

Valles, genius!

I was looking at my roster and didn't see the guy, forgetting that I traded away Valles.

Kamida came with Howard Moore for Burgos+Valles.

I am not saying guys should or shouldnt be signing type a or type b guys. I simply see many players who could be starting for 1/2 the league that rot in free agency
They rot because they are asking for $68million a year, not the type a or b he is.

That and people are hoarding cash like it's going to spit out of their cd drive of their laptop

Just in time for impending cash restrictions. Guys are going to revolt!!!

I have a bunch of cash myself, but my 25 man is basically set, and there aren't many upgrades to make at the right value, so i may lose a lot of cash as well if cash limits come into play.

I've already had one fairly successful rebuild, no reason to think I can't do it again.

Toronto, on the other hand, they've been rebuilding for about 8 seasons now? :)

I didn't see worthwhile free agents this off season so I simply signed one guy to an extension and then put a combined $60 million into scouting and development. We'll see if that helps at all.

And I still have a ton of extra cash.

Alright.... so both type A's cancel each other out. At least I still got a supplemental pick from Morrissey.. Life is good.

ReignOnU wrote:Type A - Signing team loses their first round pick if it's after pick 15 (I think) or their second round pick if their first is before pick 15. The former team gets the signing teams pick, plus an additional first round pick in the compensation round.

Type B - Signing team loses nothing. Former team gets a first round pick in the compensation round.

So how does this work if I sign more than 1 type a player?

I understand that the first Type A, I would be giving up my first round pick, if it is after pick 15, in my case, I pick 9th, so I would not lose that pick, but would be giving up my second round pick.

But then what happens if I sign a second Type A player to my team?

I ask because when Reign was teaching me some stuff, he told me to stay away from Type A players.
Which, now knowing what I know, would not have cost me my first round pick.
So it may have been worth it to me to go after a few Type A players for this season!

In real MLB, if two Type As are signed by the same team, what should happen is the higher ranked Type A free agent based on the scoring system should be rewarded with the first round pick, while the other gets a second round pick. In OOTP it is based off of which free agent signs first.

if you sign multiple type a's you lose more picks. if you signed 3 type a's youd lose your 2nd, 3rd and 4th. etc.

I believe I have this right (according to the schedule). But after we receive tomorrow's sim we will then cut the rosters down to 25 in preparation for the Friday morning sim starting the season? So no need to start demoting guys today?
