My brain hurts reading thisdakshdar wrote:Appreciate it. Don't know the number on the actual bill, haven't gotten it yet. Only see what is on the EOB form from insurance (which is a PO Box of a billing company and not the provider).
The whole fact that a doctor, that you can't choose, treats you in an in-network hospital but is out of network themselves, is mind-boggling.

This is what is wrong with America.
Clay Higgins calls gang members "animals" and he is getting criticism from the ACLU and the gang members family members.
Who fucking cares what they say about these low life thugs.

It's sad he resigns over political correctness. These gang members are ANIMALS! This war on the police needs to end. Every race has bad apples, look at these thugs he is talking about. The people that want to throw the policemen under the bus are the same that are defending these thugs. Something has to give!shel311 wrote:The Cajun John Wayne, nice!GeorgesGoons wrote:This is what is wrong with America.

One of the comments....
I half-ass agree with this. You can't have it both ways.I hate this good police officer resigned but I understand why. I believe all law enforcement should stop enforcing laws when it is black on black crime. They don't want the police enforcing laws so don't do it. Leave it to the tribal leaders (gang leaders) to enforce it. Police should just make sure their crime stays in their hoods. After a while all the thugs will kill each other out. Maybe one day someone in their community will realize who is the common denominator to all their problems.

Due to lack of gravity and lack of loading of the skeletal structure.nick wrote:he also probably lost a lot of bone density
Spoiler!
Inducing rotation of a large spacecraft (larger than anything we've got or have ever had) would help to produce an artificial gravity and would almost be a necessity for a future flight to another planet.

Re: Random Discussions
So this is why LSU won't be able to play football next season!!!
An LSU information technologies manager fired in December after skipping work for at least six months was booked into Parish Prison when he failed to return university property after his firing, police said.
Srinivas Thouta, 38, 7212 Notre Dame Drive, Irving, Texas, was booked on five felony and eight misdemeanor counts of unauthorized use of a moveable as well as one count each of malfeasance in office and theft.
Thouta, a network manager for the LSU Manship School of Communication’s Public Policy Research Lab, was fired in December after university officials discovered he hadn’t reported for work since at least July 2015, an LSU Police report says.
During those months, Thouta performed work for the university but didn’t have permission from his bosses to work remotely and should have reported to campus, said Ernie Ballard, a spokesman for the university.

The mystery deepened today.Cnasty wrote:In most major healthcare systems these types of providers are not employees of the hospital and practice under their own terms and bill separately.
They are out of network a very large portion of the time as they do not have the same contracts as the hospital. I bet Weasel is out of network for all the patients he is treating as a guess or hell he has no idea as most docs don't.![]()
If you complain enough, the provider will adjust their bill to an in network rate and that check you got should cover you to pay the portion you owe. If you can't even find who they are, get the medical records and it will be on there and you can easily find the provider and follow up directly with their billing company and get it hashed away. If in an extreme circumstance none of that works, I would escalate it to the administration at the hospital even though they are not the ones billing you they should be willing to assist if you get to the right person. Call administration/patient advocate. Not the number on your bill.
If you need more 1 on 1 help, happy to assist as much as I can. Good luck.
Finally got in contact with the billing office and they stated the following:
The $175 "consultation" on our bill was because the doctor looked over my wife's chart.
The $275 "surgery" on our bill was because the doctor place the fetal heart monitor on my wife in order to see how the baby was doing.
However -- this particular doctor doing this billing did not show up in the delivery room until after my daughter was born. My daughter was delivered by the nurse in the room, the doctor came in later for the post-delivery "stuff". The nurses involved in the delivery process remarked several times that they couldn't find the doctor and they were getting worried that he wasn't going to make it on time (and he didn't). All of the normal delivery stuff is paid to this doctor already through my wife's OB, so he's been compensated for the post-delivery work already.
So, the "surgery" charge is 100% bogus/fraudulent. The "consultation" charge is unknown at this time because I suppose he could have looked at her chart if there was a copy somewhere other than our room, but it seems unlikely. Been on the phone with these billing people twice today. One time, they actually suggested that we're likely misremembering the day as the stress and nerves with delivery would make it hard for us to recall what was actually happening in the delivery room.
Can't get a better answer from these people so just having our insurance go after them to provide hospital records of the provided service.
This feels like a flat-out fraudulent reach to snag a little extra money that they'd expect we wouldn't pay attention to because of other larger bills associated with labor and delivery that all show up with the same date and details. They probably expect that insurance will cover the bulk and we'd simply pay our share (about $60, but $270+ of my reimbursement account was used to pay part of the bill as well so it's really $300+ out of pocket for us) without questioning anything. Fuck them. If they don't rescind the bill after the insurance inquiry they'll formally hear from me in a letter disputing their claim of services and recounting all of the details of the day my daughter was born which will be copied and sent to not only the billing service but the doctor himself, the two hospitals he works at, and the local newspaper.

Re: Random Discussions
You are absolutely right and your average consumer would not go through the things you currently have. Good on ya.
Sounds like some very shady practices there but having been in the business for over 17 years now, it is sad to say it sounds pretty consistent to a lot of the complaints and escalated issues.
Keep me posted as this stuff gets me excited like stocks for Dave.
