Moral question for you guys:
Spoiler!
As all of you know I get to see some cool shit, yes I consider seeing the bad guys get blown up as cool. I have absolutely zero issues with that and sleep well at night not even thinking twice about it. I'm up to 28 confirmed kills, possibly more if there were other bad dudes in the houses or cars that were blown up.

Today I was asked to zoom all the way in on a possible VBIED (vehicle IED), so as I and the customer wouldn't be able to see if women and children were walking around. To me that is just ethically and morally wrong. I asked someone else to fly so I didn't have to partake in it. If stuff like that continues would you quit? Would you just suck it up and take the bad with the good or just do what I did and walk away and have someone else fly for you?

Great question. I have no idea how I'd react, but I like to think I'd do the same as you did.

Funny you mention what you'd do, as I just watched the documentary called "Silenced" this weekend and it deals with the same sort of stuff. Whistleblowers a lot of the NSA stuff going on right after 9/11. One dude tried to tell anyone who'd listen about the wrong stuff the government was doing, and when no one listened, he told a journalist. Next thing you know, he's hit with charges for espionage(eventually were dropped), and he goes from a pretty solid ranking position in the NSA to working at an Apple store as one of the dudes out on the floor helping you fix your Iphone. When put into that context, I really don't know what I'd do, but like you said if harming children are a possibility, that seems like a pretty good place to draw the line.

I'm not worried. Didn't say there was or wasn't kids around, was just told to zoom all the way in for plausible deniability I guess. I'm not worried how it affects my job. I already told my site lead that if this continues they won't have to worry about firing me because I would quit. I can't have that hanging over me. You have to draw the line somewhere. And my concern is that if we as contractors are ever implicated in something bad the government here has first dibs in prosecution

All in a day's work. Or almost 11 years (for me) so far. Who's counting.
